Actually a method has been proposed to stabilize the Yellowstone supervolcano. Wells could be drilled near it, and cool water pumped into the wells, returning high-pressure steam to the surface. This would gradually cool and solidify the magma in the volcano. As a side benefit, the steam could be put to good use spinning turbines and generating electricity.There really nothing that can be done.

The engineering is challenging, as are the political barriers, but the science is well understood. The volcano gains heat from the deep earth at a rate of only several gigawatts, which is energetically equivalent to several electric power plants. It is feasible to extract this heat faster than Mother Earth is supplying it, and if we do so, the volcano will eventually cool down and solidify. It might take a few thousand years, though.I’m skeptical.
