Just wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to get their flowers ready for blessing tomorrow’s feast!

A joyous USPENIJA to all!

In giving birth you preserved your virginity,
And in your repose you did not forsake the world, O Theotokos.
For you are the Mother of Life, and you have passed over into life.
And by your intercessions, from death you redeem our souls.

We’re also going to sing the Lamentations to the Mother of God at the end of Vespers tonight.

It is also the patronal feast of many parishes, as well as the Lavra in Univ (Fathers of the Studite Rule) and the wonderworking icons of the Mother of God of Univ and Zarvanytsia.

From the procession with the burial shroud of the Mother of God in Univ:

**Пресвята Богородиця, спаси нас! **

We have a beautiful burial shroud for the Mother of God that we found in a junk store and “rescued”. We have it framed but our priest won’t carry it tonight and won’t put it on display. It hangs near the ikonostas but I took it’s rushnyk home and washed it and ironed. I’ll take it back this evening and big bouquet of flowers too…

It’s going to be a sad liturgy tonight. One of parishoner’s was cutting grass yesterday and blacked out. He fell backwards and hit his head on the sidewalk. Some people driving past saw him fall and stopped to help. His wife called EMT’s but he passed away at the shock trauma center. Our whole parish is still in shock…:byzsoc:

:gopray2:

may His abundant mercy be with the departed and all in his life !

May Mati Bozha carry him herself into the heavenly abodes.

A translation of the Lamentations I recently edited is on the St. Ireneaus Mission Society site. stirenaeus.net/

Such beautiful traditions…feasts…

So many pious expressions!

Thank you my Lord, my God. Dominus meum Deus meum.
