I tend to identify with certain sinners when I read about them, like if I read about a person who puts material pleasures before God, I’ll accuse myself of the same thing, or if I read about a person who hates God, I’ll believe I have the same sin or share in the person’s sin. I like to think of this as Jesus’ way of letting me share in His burden of bearing the world’s sins.
