This may seem like a silly question, but…

I am considering buying a Douay Rheims bible and was wondering, does this bible put the words of Christ in red like other translations?

Thanks!

i think that is more a feature determined by publishers, not the translation. i had a douay rheims bible with the words of Our Lord in red but the one i currently use doesn’t. shrugs

I have two different DRVs and neither are red letter editions.

How come when the God the Father and God the Holy Spirit talk they don’t get the Red in Red Print Bibles.

Y’know…I never thought of that, but you’re absolutely right! Maybe they should color code the Father’s words in Purple and the Holy Spirit’s in green or blue… :bounce: :whacky:  :ehh:

they might if they weren’t one God in three Persons 😃

that has to do with a publishing decision, not the translation, it just makes the bible more expensive, like putting gold in the edges or a leather binding.

Excellent question. This should be put to the publishers.

I’ve only seen one Bible that had the words of all of the Trinity in red letter, and it’s a King James Bible published by an independent fundamentalist publishing house. The copy of the DRV I have (Loreto Publications) is not red letter, but some of the used bookstores may have one.

If you put the words of the Holy Spirit in red in red letter bibles, wouldn’t the whole bible have to be printed in red ink?😛

Edit: Color coded KJVs are pretty good at keeping you straight on which of Scofield’s misinterpretations go with which passage. Invaluable… not.

But what if you’re color-blind? :bounce: :whacky:  :ehh:
