I have a 1949 “New Catholic Edition of the Holy Bible.” It is translated from the Latin Vulgate.
The New Testament is “Confraternity Edition…A Revision of the Challoner-Rheims Version Edited by Catholic Scholars under the Patronage of the Episcopal Committee of the Confraternity of Christian Doctorine”
There is a passage from Pope Pius XII Encyclical Letter “Divino Afflante Spiritu” regarding reading Scripture.
All this to ask…how does it compare the Douay-Rheims that everyone suggests. Should I still invest in the DR, or is this version fine?
