Hello,

My biggest fear is that there would be no life after earthlife and that God doesn’t exist. I think about that frequently.

And when I read or hear someone saying that God doesn’t exist, that makes me struggle in my faith.

I hope that God really exist.

If you believe in God and find out He doesn’t exist after you die, you only lose something originally was not there. In other words, you lose nothing.

If you don’t believe God and you find out God really exist after you die, you not only lost all the opportunity of being with Him when you was alive, you could also lose the opportunity to be with God in eternity. You lose everything.

It is a good point of view, but if the first sentence is true, it is really discouraging.

My faith is fragile.

My faith is fragile.
Mine too…More fragile than I like to admit.

Yet we must persevere. My great comfort has been the ability to be of service to others. I find it to be a great benefit to my faith. I’m sure this is because God IS Love and the more we are able to Love, the more we are able to experience God in our lives.
So - I guess what I’m trying to say is that, when in doubt…God do something for somebody out of Love for them and Love for God.

Peace
James

The first has no way to be true. I just put that way to make a point. God is real, no doubt about that. Have faith, and pray for faith. I will pray for you. God bless!

In my life, some events happened and I thaught it was bad, but it was always for better, so I think that God really exist, but when my faith is tested, it is more difficult to believe.

Thanks for your prayers.

Today, and it is not the first time, I asked God to increase my faith by some events, according to His will.

Hello,

Hope: There is a God. I learned that God existed at the age of 4, through a near death experience. I was not previously aware that God existed and my family did not practice any religion or go to Church. This experience has been central to my entire life. Believe me please, and have faith: There is a God.

My faith is fragile.
The second sentence bears and has borne great fruits for many. When my doubt sneaks in, I remember those before me who have done great things in their faith: Religious and political leaders who acted in great faith; artists; writers; scientists; workers; mothers; fathers…

I also see the fruits of godlessness: Stalin, Hitler, Mao…not very good examples of good fruit. They were POWERFUL, to a degree, for a while, but their offerings were not very good, and they were extremely destructive with millions killed.

I’ll take door number two, even when my fragile faith is hiding.

It is true and if Satan exists, God certainly exist too.

Do you have any ideas how I could stay strong in my faith when I hear someone telling that God doesn’t exist?

Because it is when I hear that that it is more difficult in my faith.

Ignore them. Say a quick prayer in your head and tell yourself that person is likely speaking out of anger at God, stubbornness or because of a bad experience in the faith.

Even Mother Teresa doubted, just hang in there. 🙂

Spend time in Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament! Make at least 1 hour a week. Realize also that there IS a spiritual struggle going on as we are “in” the world but not “OF” the world. The enemy of your soul will whisper lies all the time to you- you need to be able to see these as real and ask for protection by perhaps praying the St. Michael prayer. Spend time with fellow Christians who are willing to share their faith walks. I highly recommend any Life in the Spirit seminars in parishes nearby!!
I will pray for you tonight,
Love in Christ,

Thanks for advice and prayers.

For me, there was a long period of time, many years, that I was filled with doubt. The three most powerful things that gave me hope and brought me closer to God than ever before…was weekly Mass (I work full time, so weekly was all I can do), daily rosary, and watching my deacons and priests. When I observe my pastor and see the love, devotion and sincerity of heart, I know not only does God exist, but he’s present, with us.

Listening to Catholic Radio and watching EWTN has also been very informative, and has also given me a stronger faith and devotion. God Bless you.

Yes - we can be pulled in different directions by things that we don’t understand - things that seem somehow contradictory - questions that just don’t seem to have satisfactory answers - and times of emotional, mental, and/or physical stress.
This is why we see words like “faith” and “perseverance” used in Scripture. Faith, by it’s very nature must involve more than mere belief. It must involve trust. Perseverance likewise is essential because in any worthwhile endeavor there will be challenges - and one will tire and need to rest.

I’m reminded of the passage in Scripture where Jesus asks a man if he believes Jesus can heal. The man says “I believe. Help my unbelief”. In another place - the last supper - there is all sorts of things going on, but John simply relines with his head upon Jesus.
Each of these things illustrate an important aspect of our faith…the struggle to more fully embrace Christ and grow in holiness, but also the need to just trust and to rest in Him.
Each has it’s place…and it’s appointed time.

probably can’t offer anything that you haven’t already heard. Prayer is the first thing. Confess to our Lord your doubts and ask His help. Read about the saints. Consider that God (who IS Love) cannot be either proved or disproved in the way that the atheist or agnostic wants him to be.
Seek God in your own heart…through agape love…not in the words of others - especially doubters who generally seek some sort of “scientific” proofs.

Peace
James

I had the peculiar experience of my own father turning up in my bedroom on the night he died, 35 years ago next Saturday as it happens… I still remember the way he materialised near the bedroom door, much of what we said (I don’t remember dreams), but in particular I remember the terrifying way he screamed just before he disappeared again. He’d been cruel for a long time, and he did it deliberately.

So there’s life after death, but there’s also judgement. I think we’ll find its pretty much as the Bible says it is.

The atheists can jump up and down and proclaim their atheistic faith as much as they like, but that’s going to be their funeral, not mine. My father didn’t believe either, but he found out he was wrong, when it was too late.
