LOL, Hi Barb. Yes I’m alive still. Thank you for wondering. Since I recently got back from pennsylvania i have had loads of chores, but i’ll be back soon,
PHHHHEWWW!http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_15_3.gif
Thank you for taking time out from the chores to reassure. I got a bit worried there…sometimes one is aiming to reassure and show one really does care, or whatever - and what happens is, one only makes the person more miserable! Thanks so much too for the:

LOL

…that sure helps too!..old worry wart aren’t I and nothing new! We all know now you are ok, so dont
put us first, put the chores first.
I had the interior all painted here…and that alone was a complete nightmare of shifting and then shifting everything back…and then searching high and low for what got lost in the shifting…and a few things I really need still unsurfaced…

You’re not alone. We, on this forum, care about you and love you. It’s really sad to lose a pet you’ve dearly loved. God’s creatures are wonderful and it’s sad when one so cherished dies. Pray to God for strength and for consolation in this time of depression and deep loss. I will also pray that God will console you in your time of need. Please continue to post here whenever you have anything you need to get off your chest. God bless you.

👍 …Very well said indeed!

I know this may be somewhat silly, but I’m just feeling depressed right now. Just got back from Lancaster Pennsylvania, already miss it, especially the Amish who I admire so much. But I come back and find my pet rat dead. Her name was Shadow, she was black. She was 2 years old. I dug a hole, petted her for a while, then buried her. I know she was just a “rat” but she was awesome. I used to give her ceral, fruit, and yummy treats everyday and she always looked forward to it. I miss her.

I don’t even know why I’m writing this, I just feel overwhelmingly sad about hundreds of things, and I’m tired of it, so tired of it. I don’t know who to talk to, I’m so confused with my faith, I miss God, and I feel abandoned. Lonely.
**How about getting a kitten? I was never a cat lover until I ‘inherited’ a small kitten from another family member. I am not a devoted cat lover and, besides, they are low maintenance. **

Sometimes I’ve wondered why do I even bother to exist. I’m not talking suicide, by all means no. But everyday life is hard, God has made it more beautiful, AND more difficult, all because I want HIM!

Everything I love gets taken away from me because of my OCD, (so they say that’s what it is). I’m too obsessive about everything. I saw this in myself when I was a teen. I remember going to see a band I liked very much, but my old school friends hated. The concert was great, I could be with people who liked similarly and not worry about being made fun of. After the concert I constanty wondered "nobody was there, everyone hates that band, you can relate with no one, you are totally alone). A few months later I had it into my head that I had a terminally ill desease, all from imaginations, wondering if they were truly imaginations or reality. I would think and think and think and SO MUCH time would be wasted, all for NOTHING! This is what they say OCD is like.

Additional things happened, even to the point of (well lets just say that if I was truly convinced that I had this ‘desease’ I was going to blow my own brains out, and for what? Nothing! I was severely messed up, mostly from lonlines.) But I don’t feel like listing the other things, I’ll move right on up to God.

All of this vanished upon believing in Him, TRULY believing in Him. Lonliness disappeared, many OCD habits vanished. But over time they returned, and returned 10 fold compared from before. Except this time I couldn’t ever convince myself I was dying and end my life, cause God is there. Now it’s an endless struggle in emotional darkness.

Every bit of anger I felt, drove me to imagine things I did not even want to imagine, but the thoughts poped in my head. I imagined murdering and hurting people. And here’s the irrational part, I never dwelled on these “thoughts.” Anotherwords I didn’t just sit here for hours thinking about what I’d like to do to certain people, or complete strangers, the thoughts just poped in my head, and I dwelled on the imaginations, wondering if that’s all they were, imaginations and not reality. And it would be about 50-75-100 a day-EVERYDAY!! While I’m at work, cooking in a resturaunt, wondering if I truly bleached off and washed this knife I just used to cut up raw chicken, then cut up a raw oinion. I’d “imagine” not doing it to purposely harm another for no apparent reason. It would just pop in my head. But that’s not me, I’m no murderer. Well then why did I imagine it? The imagination looks no different than a true memory, so how do I tell the difference? What was I thinking before and afterhand? Am I sure? What if? etc.!!!

Imagine that every single day, multiple times a day, with each emotional imagination feeling the same, never going away. It was an endless pit of darkness, led me to fall back into my earlier sins of lust. Because I couldn’t focus on God.

A few years later different thoughts emerged, new thoughts that were supposively telling me God doesn’t exist, and to that my wife is not my Wife in God’s eyes, and that I’m dammed no matter what, NO MATTER WHAT!!

It would be easier to let go of what I loved the most, God. And for a time I did, or at least tried to. But the obsessive thoughts still persisted on every other desire I had, EVERYTHING!! There was/is no escape. And it was worse than when I walked with God, much worse. I missed Him, needed Him back, because I believe I have truly tasted His goodnes, His Presence, and that would never go away.

While OCD still dramatically effects me, all of what I said is old news, I’ve gotten over it, grew out of it, so it seems. And I hope it never returns. I wrote this so you all can get a glimpse of my past. Though it’s not what I wanted to write, what I truly want to write is next. But I have to leave for work, so it will be later. Maybe tonight.

Thank you all for your care and prayers.

Hi there FT7…It’s 10.26am here on Wed. 13th August 2008 - I’ve got things to do but will return to your Post at a later point today. I don’t want to reply hastily. But it is good to see you in the thread again for sure and unafraid to express and share…and on a quite personal and intimate level. This asks courage and deserves admiration.👍

Cacha later…take care and sail safe… Blessings and Peace with my regards…Barb:)

I’m not afraid to speak it anymore caus eI’m tired of being in emotional darkness, it’s like . . . etrernal seperation from God.

I want to write something else, but probably will tomorrow morning. Where I am it’s 9:39 pm. Need to sleep.

P.S. Barb, you have a very beautiful soul. That I can sense :o

Yes, NOTHING worked. It’s all a joke.

By the way, I hope I didn’t scare anyone, or freak you all out 😦
We’re pretty tough. Don’t worry about us!😉

This is going to hurt me severely, but I must speak it to someone.

There’s this individual, named William, who is married to Janete. First off, I will say, Janete is a beautiful woman, heart AND soul! Very sweet, very humble. Very caring. But sometimes Will doesn’t know what has happened or if he is even loved or taken advantaged of (well deep down he knows she loves him, that seems evident in her eyes and how she always wants to cuddle him). They have similar likes (animals, going to interesting movies, fantasy, walks, swiming, video games 🙂 )and used to do everything together, especially Mass. Her love of God is what orginially attracted him to her. In fact Janete was the reason William looked into Catholicism, at the time he was Protestant, thought Catholicism silly, but investegated it because of her and found it so inspiring, eventually leaving his own Church and coming to the Catholic Church, and they married.

But the last few years Will’s body and heart is overwhelmed. It seems Jan has . . . shut off from doing anything. With all the animals they have, Will only ever wanted his two dogs, and takes care of them, always has. The rest of the animals Janete wanted and promised to take care of them. She doesn’t, not a one! Every once in a while she might feed them, or take them potty, but 98% it’s always Will. Sometimes Janete openely refuses to do ANYTHING for them, cause she just doesn’t “feel like it.” So now it’s ALL laid on Will, everyday.

He gets up for a 9 hour day of labor work, does his chores in the morning, goes to work, comes home, does more chores and has to make supper, while she is playing on the computer. Now Will doesn’t really care about the supper thing so much, he’s never been as “make my supper woman!” lol, HE is the one who normally cooks, but his work hours changed, and he works late, and gets home late while she is already home, and there never is anything to eat. Sometimes she’ll make something, but again it’s about 2% of the time, and then other times she’ll make something for herself, and not for him. But whenever she is late, Will makes her dinner. Why? Cause he loves her and doesn’t want her to be hungry. He has to do the dishes, feed the animals, take out the garbage, burn the garbage, take out the compost garbage, vacuum, clean the cat litter box, mow the lawn, clean the rat cage. Sometimes he just never even bothers to eat supper and would go to bed sad and alone, while Janete is on the computer.

Her one and only chore, the laundry, has now slipped. William had enough of the mess and pile so he took everything to the laundry mat, and got EVERYTHING done! Thinking it might help her to now keep up. It hasn’t and now Will has been doing even that on a daily basis.

Janete is usually always on the computer communicating with her friends, while Will does everything else. She wonders why Will loves his dogs so much? Well, cause they look forward to seeing him everyday, and want to be with him, help I’m sure if they could. She never seems to want to lend even a pinky anymore, and at times Will has silently wept telling himself she doesn’t love him.

Will has brought this to her attention in the past, and Janete broke apart in tears. It crushed Will’s heart to see his wife cry cause of his words (and also, Will is NO angel, but that’s another matter). She admitted she has been lazy, and that she’ll try to do better. But never does. and if the subject is brought up again, Janete gets furious and wishes not to talk.

She also abandoned Church a while ago. Will began going to another Church because the memories of being at Mass with her, in that particular Church, were too hard, lonely. So he attended another Mass. Sadly, now even he hasn’t gone since the late fall, well except for one time last week, while down in Pennsylvania, and it felt good again. Will knows he must return, but right now he’s so overwhelmed, so lonely, so tired of everything it’s just too difficult to get the strength and will.

Will is even afraid to have children now, as it most likely will all be tossed on him. Even janete’s parents see this and feel sorry for Will, and are trying to make this all better. All Will ever wanted was a simple family, devoted to God, and if a member dosn’t want or believe in God, very well, then at least stick together as a family, work together as a community. Which is why I, or I mean Will, loved the Amish down in Lancaster, a simple family-life people, and the feast of food, is all it takes to make me happy. Not technologoy or the latest blue ray TV, Will can care less. Just . . . a loving family. But that’s not what is taking place.

Will silently cried coming back to NY, back to his old boring job where he gets picked on a lot (of course that’s because he’s humble, if he so chose, he could crush any of them, Will knows how to fight and protect himself, but he chooses not to and remains humble, as Christ most likely would want). But everything dark has again returned. No Amish riding around, no friendly people (even the non-Amish were awesome down there, and the Catholic Church was beautiful too). Back to his old OCD habits, thoughts, getting teased, getting no help, having no companion or ANYTHING! Will is just so tired of everything. He sometimes wonders if it would of been better if he would have joined a brotherhood like the Fransicians or something long ago, or live in a Christian community camp forever, instead of this dark emotional stressful life.

It would all be easier if Janete helped him as a wife, a companion, maybe even lessen his OCD, cause stress dramatically increases it. But everything is always the same. Will even mentioned moving there, to Lancaster, but oh no, Janete won’t have it.

William loves Janete with ALL HIS HEART. She is a beautiful caring person, Will just thinks the computer and her friends on it are occupying all her time, and it saddens him to no end. He always and endlessly feels . . . alone.

Prayers for you, FindTruth7.

May you find strength and support from God and through the community on this forum.

May Pope John Paul II the Great intercede to bring healing to the marriage of Will and Janete.

I went through the feeling of being abandon by God before, but I clinged to Him and prayed fervently, asking Him to not abandon me. He answered my prayer and brought peace to my soul and heart. I am still struggling with the idea, however, there is more peace now than before.

Thanks for all of your prayers and support, everyone.

I feel kind of sad, writing what I did about “Janete.” Almost like, I betrayed her, because I know she would cry were she to read this 😦

I just wanted to tell someone, so that’s why I wrote it HERE.

Funny thing is, that same day I wrote it, when I came home she was helpng me and it was nice. I wasn’t so overwhelmed, nor did I feel like a repetetive unappreciated robot. I love my Janete. 🙂

Barb, if you’re out there, how have you been?

Yep! Still out here, FT7!👍 My Bipolar condition looked like playing up there for a moment and so I immediately put in place precautionary measures which can nip it all in the bud if I pick up a threatening episode in the “early warning stages” if I do recognize these early warning signs, which thankfully I did. Mind you, in the following list of precautions, not the same things work for all. Up to the person to work them out oneself and for me, it has been in conjunction with my psychiatrist.
Early Warning Stages Precautions
  • Cut down on all stimulation (and CAF is quite stimulating mentally)…and this “cut down” for me and my brand of Bipolar even means going for a walk, as my mind can be stimulated into action by different things I might see as I walk. By staying in four walls everything is familiar and less likely to stimulate.
  • Cut down on visitors as this can be very stimulating also with visitors often presenting with problems.
  • I have taken a potential long term period off school as this too can be stimulating. My doctor will write a note for the school explaining, or ring them. They are aware I suffer Bipolar and I ensured they did from the day I enrolled. Bipolar can be such a nuisance and totally unpredictable at times and in many ways. An insidious illness. It can have a positive side if one can keep episodes at bay or control them. But not always so in all sufferers. The positive side is why there are so many famous people of note who have suffered the condition.
  • Use emergency medication as needed…and I have done this. At certain signs present, I take usually half of one of these tablets which can mean that if a bomb went off in my front room, I couldn’t care less:D
  • Cut down on caffeine (stimulant) which I have done, switching over to decaf. coffee.
  • Ensure one eats healthily and that one is attending to normal daily duties and taking normal care of oneself.
  • Contact my doctor - I have appt. next Tuesday
To date the second stage beyond early warning signs has not kicked in, so I am confident that probably an episode has been nipped in the bud. This has happened previously and a few times and probably even more than that (an episode avoided due to using at an early point the precautionary measures). Stress is the common denominator triggering an episode in me of Bipolar…so I watch at a time like this and far more than usually my stress levels, using the emergency medication to reduce them, which the medication does effect.
I read your post about Will, FT7, and the posts that followed and thought that these posts gave you great advice. I think probably Will and his wife if the situation perseveres - and should perchance persevere as a negative one would profit from marital counselling. Need to seek marriage guidance counselling. There seemed to be in the situation an indication perhaps of a level of depression, and reactive depression to the situation prevailing. There also seemed to be indication of ‘comptuer addiction’ which can become quite obsessive and a compulsion. I know:D The way that works for me is to set myself a time span on the computer and to force myself to adhere to them. To set duties for my day and, again, to force myself to complete them.
Funny thing is, that same day I wrote it, when I came home she was helpng me and it was nice. I wasn’t so overwhelmed, nor did I feel like a repetetive unappreciated robot. I love my Janete
Great news! Marriage can be hard work and something of the roller coaster ride (I was married for 15years now annulled)…and over and above that, we can just never know what is around the next corner. What pertains today, may not pertain tomorrow. Of course, we cannot take this as a for granted…and common sense, prudence and wisdom may ask that we take some action re a negative situation - to work as if all depended on our work and to pray as if everything depended on our prayer. Personally, I have found, that indeed more things are worked by prayer than this world could ever dream of. Coupled with trustful and confident prayer always, I will take any action common sense, prudence and wisdom may dictate, since these are Gifts of God and in part in order to address problems and other matters in our lives. Gifts of God are for good stewardship. To use them well and in a balanced manner.

Blessings TP7…and yes, still very much out here, just watching very closely this Bipolar complete nuisance - and though I detest it, it is a cross and hence a blessing that wears weird clothing to my mind. Blessings often do! In truth I am deeply grateful praising The Lord for a totally unearned and undeserved gift…for my brand of Bipolar in these latter years is nowhere near as severe, quite mild, in the face of that which many must live with day in and day out. Their sufferings are truly horrific…and probably only other sufferers insight just how horrific as a daily burden endlessly through their days with no real hope of relief other than a pure Gift of God verging (to medicine) on the miraculous.

Good to be talking with you again.

Stay safe and sail sweetly the tides of life…May The Lord bless you and yours richly and your marriage…my regards…Barb:)

Thank you very much, you’re one of the few I truly believe in this sometimes self righteous Catholic forum, (well, mostly the aplogetics site). You have a humble spirit, and an honest heart. Thank you for caring. 🙂

Hi there FT7 and good to be talking with you again! :tiphat:
Prior to onset of my illness, I had what I thought anyway (ahhh illusions and delusions - so painful in the process of destruction of them) was a very happy marriage (now annulled), two great children, and my ex husband and I and my sons wanted for nothing materially as my ex and I ran a very successful indeed business. I had a great career as a secretary to some well known business executives that I returned to once my boys were old enough, simply because I loved it. I had also trained as a counsellor and worked at this part time (evenings) on a voluntary basis. I was respected on parish and diocesan level and what i had to say was listened to. In other words I had a good reputation (totally destroyed with onset of MI) Life was good!
Bang! mental illness struck.
Nothing like MI to humble one to the dust and in admitting one actually has a MI to onself and all takes honesty that is very difficult indeed (for me anyway) and a long journey to arrive at.

In the main I have found sufferers of MI are very honest and caring people and from their hearts…because they do suffer such a socially ‘black listed’ and unacceptable illness, they develop great compassion and understanding is my experience…and for all regardless. MI means that socially we are “on the bottom of the pile” alongside criminals, drug addicts and the socially unacceptable" and we develop a kinship with them though not necessarily of them…they are our brothers and sisters in being social outcasts with them.

But hey…how about sharing more about the Amish and your own difficulties in life!👍 …given the slightest opportunity I like to make MI as understood in the reality of matters (to break down the stigma) as I can and to a distinct fault in myself I know.
Also, I have recognized in myself that I am quite the thread hijacker, meaning I take threads off their central and openeing post topic. Although I rather think that The Holy Spirit should have room to move where He may. A case of tomato or tomatoe/potato or potatoe. Ahhhhh perspective and attitude! Be all that as it may, rules is rules is rules…and one does agree to abide by the existing rules of most any group or organization if one joins them…and wants to stay joined with them. Yet there is the letter of the law or rule, and the spirit of the law or rule. And giving one’s word even if only implied and abiding by it is a point of personal integrity. Something like all that.🤷 C’est la vie!

Blessings and my regards…Barb:)

Hi Barb!! hugs 🙂 Speaking of the Amish, I’m eating an apple strusel cake I bought back in Lancaster. Oh my goodnes, it’s SOO good!! Super moist and appley 🙂 Those beautiful Amish ladies sure can bake!😃

A good feast is what makes me happy. I don’t really care about material things, I just like everyone to be happily fed. I remember telling my mother that one year she didn’t have much for Christmas presents. So instead, we focused on a wonderful dinner that always brings everyone together.

The Amish love feasts too, it’s one of their specialties, they even have scripture quotes where biblical people had big feasts and take after them lol 🙂

I’m still missing it down there, but I have to accept I’ll never live there. Melissa doesn’t want to, she’s my wife. That’s ok, I got to be around here anyway to help out my parents, they’re getting up there in age and I constantly worry about them.

My silly dream was to get a simple modest house in Lancaster county, and live a quiet life. Having a garden, there’s a nice Catholic Church down there that I went to while there, I could communicate with the Amish folk, go to the yummy restyraunts, and over all it’s just a nice wondrous religious feel all around. People even pray at a resturaunt we atried (was very good) and no one thinks of you as strange. That’s why I love it down there, and truthfully, would rather give up my electric to live in a community like the Amish.

Winter is coming and that frightens me. My MI is much worse during that season. I like the sunshine and warmth, well fall is my favorite season, but once that’s over it’s long dark and cold. OCD is so hard, one problem converts to another, sometimes every 10 minutes of an entire day. Especially if I’m alone. It makes praying and concentration more difficult too. I have also been extremely humbled by this disorder. I don’t know if God gave me it, or if it just happened by chance and God allows it to keep me humble. But at times I want to scream at Him. Though I know I can’t, cause He’s the Boss and my Master 🙂

Ok, need to go get more apple strusel lol
