I read The Island of Dr. Moreau last winter and Saw the Movie (with Vil Kilmmer). I remeber hearing that “We shouldn’t play God” and all this. What is the limit on research and the such? Where is the point where we should say that this is where we stop or where it is alright to keep searching into?

“Discover Magazine” had an article last year (May 2004?) about the doctor doing private fetal stem cell research. He is the real Dr. Moreau, wanting to create a genetic combo platter of a man-primate chimera, and whining about ethics oversight. You have to find that article. The interview with this real-life Dr. Moreau is truly chilling. I was just thinking about him at Mass this Thanksgiving…God help us.
