“mission of the Messiah” by Tim Gray is an excellent commentary on the gospel of Luke, and as such it is also a good apologetic for Catholic belief.
Dr. Gray is a very analytical thinker and displays his enthusiasm in writing as well as he does in his EWTN program videos.
Example? He explains that we are truly “Christians” – those who have been anointed with the Holy Spirit in Baptism. (“messiah” = “Christ” = anointed).
It’s approx. 152 pages overall, but about 25 pages less, subtracting blank pages and pages with study questions.
(The pontifical Biblical Commission, in their Interpretation of the Bible in the Church, says the best way to study scripture is with a good commentary next to your Bible. This is one such to have on hand.)
