OK, so this question is from years back, but I guess it’s still worth adding something, just in case anyone else stumbles upon this thread by means of Google, as I did.
He seems to be a doctor in the sense that he has a doctorate in zoology. How does that make him qualified to talk about God, faith, religion, Catholicism, etc.? I’m not too sure.
There doesn’t seem to be any Catholic response to this guy’s non-sense. I’m guessing Catholics haven’t found him worth their while; it’s hard to take this guy seriously at all. The problem is that many Seventh Day Adventists (he is of this faith), and people of similar leanings, do take him seriously - many as in dozens of thousands.
Thankfully, for this very reason, some Seventh Day Adventists have taken it upon themselves to take him apart; it makes sense to me - after all, he is a complete embarrassment. In any case, here is a pretty good dissecting of Walter Veith from Spectrum, the online Seventh Day Adventist magazine:
spectrummagazine.org/node/3519
For a taste of what you’ll find in that article:
“Veith, it goes without saying, is trading in a world of fantasy and myth that has considerably less logic than a Dan Brown novel and a great deal more creepiness. There is, however, something mesmeric in his performance. If nothing else, he knows how to play the chords of apocalyptic menace with a campy but bravura showmanship. And he seems to know exactly what he is doing. Veith repeatedly states in his performances that he is not telling his listeners what to believe but is simply presenting them with the “facts” so that they can make informed judgments for themselves. But these claims are also simply part of the show.”
Read the rest there. It’s well worth it.
