In Dragonlance, there is a Native American type that goes in search of some plates. Which sounds like part of the story of John Smith and the plates in the Mormon faith. And Tanis Half-Elven being not able to choose between two women, which to me sounds kinda like a aspect of the older mormons, i heard that at one time. That Mormons could have more than one wife, but now it’s illegal. I wonder how much of the story in the books is based on Tracy Hickman’s Mormon faith.

eh.
Most authors find inspiration from their personal lives or in the lives of others.

Catholic writers do the same. Take the Narnia Chronicles by CS Lewis

CS Lewis was Anglican, not Catholic. A better example would be Tolkien and Lord of the Rings.
Yes, it warms my heart that the father of modern fantasy was a devout Catholic.

Dragonlance? That’s nothing. Try the original Battlestar Galactica series. 12 lost tribes, Quorum of the twelve, Kolob, heck, they even had an episode with Lucifer.

Now, the author of the awful teen-romance-sparkly-vampire Twilight series is also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But most of us don’t claim her books, or her. Any similarities you see there, we don’t wanna hear about. 🙂
