Three 8 hour debates I’d like to see:

1) Steve Ray, Bob Sungenis, and Scott Butler versus James White, Eric Svensden, and Bill Webster
TOPIC: The Papacy

2) Jimmy Akin, Bob Sungenis, and Scott Hahn versus Robert Zins, James White, and Jason Engwer
TOPIC: Purgatory

3) Bob Sungenis, Pat Madrid, and Jimmy Akin versus James White, Keith Mathison, and John MacArthur
TOPIC: Sola Scriptura

On a more serious level, I think a good debate topic would be DO THE MARIAN DOGMAS CONTRADICT SCRIPTURE?. The debate could be Bob Sungenis (or maybe Patrick Madrid or Tim Staples) vs. James White. If we demonstrate that the Marian dogmas do not contradict scripture, we have made a lot of progress.

Mary (ie. BVM) and Madeline Murray O’Hare…

I would by a front row ticket for that one.

Jesus Vs Martin Luther, that would put all this protestant nonsense to rest for good.

Or Mary vs any JW, Mormon, or Muslim

Opening remarks…

Mary: “Do as my Son tells you…”

end of debate

Ahhhhh, I know!

Rabid anti-Catholic protestant fundamentalist vs. Rabid liberal Catholic dissentor

Liberal Dissenter:

“The Catholic Church has no respect for a woman’s right to choose! The Pope is an idiot for saying gay marriage is wrong! And how dare he say that good, peaceful religion of Islam is violent. Those dumb Bible- thumping priests have no clue as to what the modern world needs!”

Protestant Fundamentalist:

“The Roman Church is secretly promoting abortion and gay marriage. They want to merge all religions togather to form the One World Religion- and they founded Islam! The un-Biblical Romanist clergy is modernist!”

This is a great thread…I’m a smidge jealous…you all rock:thumbsup:

On that account I wish I could see St. Thomas More vs. King Henry VIII. Just not get his head cut off for it though.
I would also like to add

Any of the Doctors of the Church

vs. Muhammed

You’re suspended? How the heck?

Socrates vs. Peter Kreeft

Socrates’ revenge. Kreeft will apologize for putting words into the mouth of Socrates in those silly books!

Pope Linus VS James White on “Bible Alone”

or a JW VS a Mormon on “Who Do You Say That I Am?”

**Father John Corapi of EWTN verses… Baptist preacher . Fred Phelps…

Oh, and Steven Hawking vs. Mortimer J. Adler, who took the Faith shortly before his death. Adler, as you may know, corrected the major philosophical problem with quantum physics in a footnote.
Mr. Hawking, philosophically illiterate philandering adulterous jerk that he is, would be out of his depth, and how.
a) this is a rude, infantile, uncharitable and possibly libellous characterisation of Hawking

b) Adler, as you might know, regardless of his other undoubted virtues, was scientifically naive, had nothing of originality, value or interest to say about scientific matters and certainly did not resolve any problems of quantum physics, philosophical or otherwise.

c) the man’s name is spelt Stephen not Steven - but why should I expect one who is ignorant in big things to be any less ignorant in small things.

Stephen Hawking vs. Steven Hawkings, now that will be some debate! Hi Alec! 👍

How about…

Lawrence Krauss vs. Robert Sungenis
Resolved: “…eppur se muove, but it does move…”

Rules: No Bibles, no Popes, no Church Fathers, nor Saints, nor Church Doctors allowed. 😃

Mr. Hawking, philosophically illiterate philandering adulterous jerk that he is, would be out of his depth, and how.
I attended a lecture by Dr. Stephen W. Hawking on November 7, 2005 in San Jose. His spiritual presence seemed to surround and captivate the audience as his eyes pierced through eyelids that gently flickered to the sound of his computerized voice announcing, “God chose, for reasons we cannot know, the moment of creation, but it began 15 billion years ago when all galaxies were clustered.”

As I sat in row seven, seat thirty-seven, I soon realized that the wheel chair carrying Hawking’s frail, listless body contained one of the most brilliant minds of the 20th and 21st century, a soul’s lifetime journey into the origin of the Universe. Stephen Hawking’s heartfelt proclamation to us, “We are quantum fluctions in the universe.” And, he briefly mentioned that ‘extra dimensions are curled up like a donut’!

After his lecture, a very young girl appeared in the audience carrying a fresh bouquet of red roses with sprigs of baby breath. She proceeded to walk-up the stairs onto the stage then placed the flowers onto the lap of Stephen Hawking. It was a moving experience which he immediately responded to her gesture by saying, “God bless you.” Everyone stood up and applauded!

The beauty of Stephen Hawking shines with gentleness enhanced by a willingness to soulfully link with others, and this is truly what makes the man despite your disability to see otherwise Hastrman.
