Ok, to begin I should probably say that I will be starting RCIA in September after 6-7 months of learning about the Catholic faith. I am converting from a protestant church and am still learning about what Catholic’s believe. I have had times where I can really feel that the devil is trying to pull me away from my decision to be confirmed. However, recently I have been feeling so full of the Holy Spirit. I wanted to share the dream I had last night and I have a few questions about it. Bare with me, I wrote this description when I woke up from this dream, so it is full of run ons and other grammatical errors:

I just had a dream where I was with Art (my boss) and Kristie (his wife) in their house and Art, who just returned from Poland, had brought home a statue of St. Rose, who I never heard of before in my life before this dream. All of a sudden, the scene changes and we were in a huge department store and the ground started shaking and everyone thought it was an earthquake and I kept thinking how odd it was to have an earthquake here and that how we are supposed to have weird disastrous weather before the end times and how this was another sign of it happening soon. Then the ground started shaking so bad I could hardly stand and the floor started splitting and I kept praying, lord protect us, lord protect us over and over and then really scary black winged demons started flying out of the ground and snatching people up and carrying them away. Everyone was screaming and trying to run away and I was running towards them saying I believe in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and they would fly towards me, but choose to take someone else instead. Finally, I woke up, and horrible images of demons and owls (don’t know why) kept popping in my head. It was horrible, one of the worst dreams I ever had, I woke up with my heart pounding so fast. So, I prayed and then did research on St. Rose and found out that today is her feast day!

So, my question is, Can demons use dreams to scare you or attack you? Is this some sort of message to me? Can saints protect you in your dreams? What does this all mean? Should I even be worried about this?

I should also mention that I woke from this dream at 3 AM, which I heard is considered the true “witching hour”

Am I making too much of this???

3 am is the “witching hour”? That’s not good. I wake up quite alot around 3 from dreams and such.

This is what I have heard. Not too sure on the validity of this statement. It is supposed to be the devil’s way of sort of mocking Jesus’ death on the cross which is accepted to have occurred at 3 PM. I have also heard stories of people who wake up from nightmares at 3 AM. Also, this time is used in many mainstream movies that could be made by the illuminati which is said to follow satan. I use “could be” because I know not everyone believes this.

Since the beginning, when the devil persuaded Adam and Eve to disobey God, demons have constantly tried to steal people away from God’s grace. The Saints (including St. Rose) lived a life that conquered evil. For that reason demons fear them, because they know they have no power over perfect followers of Christ that do as God’s Divine Will tells them, so certainly they can protect you in your dreams.

The message to you could be that you might find obstacles that try to prevent your conversion to the Church, but your faith in Jesus will keep evil away from you, though others around you fall to temptation.

As for the witching hour, there is no Church teachings that I’ve ever found that refer to this.
In fact, I feel it is a tool of the Devil to have spread this tale of the witching hour to try to cast doubt and fear into the hearts of God’s children. **As if **there were any hour of the day where the Sacrifice of the Lamb of God, Jesus on the Cross, would be weakened to the point where that hour could be claimed by Satan!
All hours of eternity belong to and give glory to the Holy Trinity!

Continue strong on your journey Home to our Lord’s True Church! 😃

Nobody ever said that 3am belongs to the devil; only that “activity” increases at this time. Same with hauntings being more frequent at night.

You are completely right.

But I still don’t believe there is a witching hour beyond stories that people tell.

I watched a documentary back in high school that was showing arguments for and against the moon’s effect on people. Many claimed that more babies were born during a full moon, but when compared with hospital files, there was no more, no less than usual.

I guess my point is that I doubt there is more activity at any certain hour of the day, just people’s imaginations running loose. 🤷

Not to say that there are any hours where the Devil isn’t at play though.

I don’t want to be like the Sadducees who denied the existence of evil spirits, after all. Maybe 3 am is the witching hour, if so maybe I should start waking myself up at 3 to say some extra prayers 🙂 That certainly couldn’t hurt!

3am is also the time when blood sugar dips, when other hormone levels drop, and that itself causes some people to wake, or to dream vividly. look for the reasonable natural explanation before considering the supernatural. It will be more helpful in the long run to right down details of your dream and consider what those images mean to you in your waking life, because most often dreams are self talking to self. Perhaps it means that work is presenting a lot of challenges, but you trust your boss to guide you. Maybe it means you find these people reliable mentors in your spiritual progress. But by all means research St. Rose at catholic.org/saints she is awesome

Thank you for all of your replies! I wasn’t interested really in the fact that it was 3 it was kind of just an interesting side note. Really, the main focus of my questions were if saints and demons could affect your dreams. I don’t really like to read too much into my dreams, to me it could be kind of dangerous to mess with that. Sort of like people who try to control their dreams, I think it can kind of open you to the devil. I really felt a connection to St. Therese and was considering choosing her as my patron when I am confirmed, but now I feel maybe St. Rose should be my patron. Like she was showing me herself and was there to help protect me from these demons.

Sounds a lot like the three days of darkness…

From personal experience, though, the devil will fight you at every turn when you are becoming a better christian for Jesus. After a while, it gets a lot easier to say no to him.

Sorry about dragging this off topic:rolleyes:

As for analyzing dreams, I thing they’re best used as a means of gaining knowledge abnout yourself, like if you’re nervous about something or something makes you happy. But definetely research St. Rose after this dream. After all, St. Joseph took the Holy Family to Egypt because of a dream.

It’s a warfare dream that is calling you to pray against a specific chastisement.

Owls are symbols of the demon Molock that some of our leaders pay homage to. He is also the demon of child sacrifice or abortion.

The chastisement likely has to do with the sin of abortion.

You are probably called to start a rosary prayer group to combat Molock and st rose will help.

This will be a big battle and you are not to engage it alone.
