I’m not Catholic, (I’ve been to mass a few times and RCIA a few times) but I’ve been having these extremely vivid dreams… I feel really silly, but I do want some advice. The first dream I had was the night of March 18th. I dreamt I was in (local parish) sitting in the pew section to the far right near the front. As I was there praying the white statues of Mary and Joseph came alive and got really big (still were solid white, just moving). Joseph kept motioning me towards the alter in a “come here” hand gesture and I could see his mouth moving but couldn’t hear anything. I asked what he was saying, but I couldn’t hear it—he just kept gesturing me forward towards the altar. When I woke up the next morning, March 19—I learned it was Joseph’s feast day!

The second dream I had last night. I dreamt that my mom and I were in eastern Europe touring some places in Poland (we’ve never been there). We were in a room looking at paintings when suddenly there was a Pope there. I knelt and kissed his hand and he put his other hand on my head and told me to stop kneeling. When I stood up he hugged me and I started crying. I said, “bless me, Holy Father” and he said, “you are already blessed, for you know the Christ.” And then he went and hugged my mom and spoke with her and when we were both crying, he disappeared.
When I woke up this morning, I started googling because the Pope in my dream didn’t really look like Pope Francis. I googled pictures of Popes—and I had dreamed about Pope John Paul II who a friend informed me is a saint! My mom said he’s the first Pope she remembers.
  Sooooo.... yeah.

Other Christian traditions tend to downplay the roles of saints, or accidentally misconstrue the Catholic viewpoint of saints within the Church.

Asking for a saints intercession is akin to asking for friends or family to pray for you.

To be clear, a saint isn’t a demigod, a saint is simply someone that the Church acknowledges is definitely in Heaven and already went through Purgatory.

Quick follow-up: anyone who is in heaven is a saint…so for instance…if my grandmother is in heaven, she’s a saint. She just may not have all the accoutrements (feast day, patronage, etc.).

Your post implies you didn’t finish RCIA. Maybe the Holy Spirit is moving you to the truth and you are resisting.

Yeah that’s a big signal buddy! Time to become Catholic!

COME ON HOME! haha

If it helps any, I’ve always seen the veneration of saints as more of a “role model” thing. To explain:

The ancient Greeks, Romans, etc., had heroes who’d done great and mighty deeds, that they consequently told stories about (think Heracles and Theseus). After said ancienst converted to Catholicism, the old heroes weren’t so great- mighty warriors, yes, paragons of morality… um, no. So they began to tell stories of new heroes that appeared during the persecutions, heroes who lived lives of heroic virtue and were so strong [in their faith], that they were willing to die for Jesus. From there, the veneration of saints began. The stories of the saints were bedtimes stories about good role models, as well as local heroes to commemorate and try to follow in the footsteps of. Also an excuse for a good feast.

I hope this helps.
