Dreams & meaning

Hi All,

I would like to share my experience with dreams. I often see dreams and some of them are already happened in my life. But I can only understand it completely, after I faced the situation or happened in my life.

A few weeks back, I saw a dream. In this, my mother was get admitted to hospital due to snake poison. When I reached on home in that weekend, I came to know that the dream was true and my mom was in hospital. But the Doctor couldn’t find out the reason and they concluded that, it was due to food poison. A slight difference with what I had in dream.

It happens many times in my life. Yesterday I prayed before sleeping to know His decision in one thing. And in dreams, I saw some strange peoples who are not related to me. And I still remember the date, October 1… Maybe my prayer request will get a reply on that day.

I post this thread is not for saying this but to hear from you all about the dreams and its meaning. How can we interpret dreams ?

Who showed the future through dreams ? Is it related to any Holly Spirit or our Guardian Angel or anything else?

I would like to hear your opinion about this.

The Bible covers a history of some 2000 years.

There are only about a dozen dreams in it of any spiritual significance whatsoever.

What does this tell you about the spiritual significance of dreams in general?

The Fathers say not to pay any attention to your dreams, unless they warn you of judgement or give a message of reproof.

I thought we were taught not to believe in dreams. Although, as in your case, I’ve heard people tell of certain times when their dreams later coincide with events. I don’t know but prefer to err on the side of caution.

Those dreams told about in the Bible were special messages sent to very special people - such as St. Joseph. There was a Divine Hand / Purpose in those dreams.

That certain dreams may be caused by God seemed to be acknowledged without controversy by the early Fathers of the Church and the ecclesiastical writers. This opinion they based mainly on Biblical authority; occasionally they appeared to the authority of classical writers. Agreeably to this doctrine, it was admitted likewise that the interpretation of supernatural dreams belongs to God who sends them, and who must manifest it either to the dreamer or to an authorized interpreter.

The divine intervention in man’s dreams is an exceptional occurrence; dreaming, on the contrary, is a most common fact. We may inquire, therefore, how the official guardians of Faith viewed ordinary and natural dreams.

In general they repeated to the Christians the prohibitions and warnings of the Old Testament, and denounced in particular the superstitious tendency to consider dreams as omens.

It may suffice in this connection to recall the names of St. Cyril of Jerusalem, St. Gregory of Nyssa, and St. Gregory the Great, whose teaching on the question at issue is clear and emphatic. A few, however, held opinions somewhat at variance with the traditional view. Among them the most noteworthy is Synesius of Cyrene (about 370-413), who is the author of a very strange treatise on dreams. Starting from the Platonic anthropological trichotomy, and from certain psychological hypotheses of Plato and Plotinus, he attributed the imagination a manifestly exaggerated role. Above all the arts of divination, the lawful use of which he did not seem to doubt, he extolled dreaming as the simplest and surest mode of prophesying. We know that he had accepted the episcopacy only on the condition that he might continue to hold certain favourite philosophic ideas; and it is reasonable to suppose that his theories on dreams were included in the compact.

My priest told me that God gives us dreams to bring a particular issue we should deal with to mind. He seemed to be of the opinion that dreams are God given and not necessarily an evil thing, just another tool given to us to help us in our spiritual growth.

Once again a dream a happened in my life. In Saturday Night, saw that my brother’s wife will be discharged from hospital on October 1st. But I didn’t get the meaning at that time.

I called my brother on Sunday to tell my plan to visit their home but he replied that, her wife is taking rest because of fever. And he hope that from October 1st, she can go to office… Nobody knows that, she is sick and taking rest.

I was surprised… Once more, I saw a real situation through dream.

This time also, I couldn’t interpret it correctly. If thing is going so, I wish to encourage it with the help of Jesus. please pray for me & also would like to hear from you all.

I read all your replies and I couldn’t believe that, all dreams are blind. Because I have experience and it happened many times in my life. This week also…
