What a lofty idea! I have a few questions though. First, who will use it?
It is usually not permitted for ‘individuals’ to “possess” the Holy Eucharist, so it is unlikely that you will receive permission to have the Blessed Sacrament in your home, able to be exposed at your convenience. Second, what purpose will it serve? (Think in a larger sense, not just personal satisfaction) Will such a chapel be open for others to come in to pray? OR, will it be just an “exposition” – so perhaps, whoever might see it, will revel in your talent, wealth, devotion, etc., etc., etc.
May I suggest an alternative for you to think about? Perhaps you might “construct” a Tabernacle deep within your own heart, where you can go in, whenever you wish, to commune directly with the Lord, your God. That Tabernacle may become a most beautiful, reverent and ornate House of Blessing you wish it to be, and will frequently, nay, constantly, house the Redeemer of the World, and all the great choirs of angels, His holy Mother, God His Father, and the Holy Spirit, and the countless saints who dwell forever with Him in heaven.
A simple thought to remember, might be: the Pharisees thought that a great SHOW of holiness would make them acceptable servants of God; Jesus came to be a servant, not a showman. But which was the better idea?
I have been constructing my own tabernacle for many years now. The beginning was the hardest part, having to clear out all the cobwebs of laziness, the dust of lack of charity, the dirt of unconfessed sins, and the trash of years of inattention to the One Whom I hoped would enter into my Tabernacle to make it holy and beautiful. But with every journey into it, and every visit with my Jesus in it, and every moment spent in prayer and privacy of love with Him therein, I am surprised (!) to see how beautiful a structure it is becoming after all this time. Even more, He is working on the ‘landscaping’ on the outside whenever I have left Him there, and has been making the outside a more fitting place for Him to reside too. OTHER people have found their way into my tabernacle, and are taking their example and inspiration from me, having seen how my Jesus has been working to change me.
Remember always, that unless God is the Builder, the laborers work in vain.
God love you. I do.
