So in life I’ve had points where I am further or closer to God than usual. I notice though when I start praying or getting closer to God I wind up having dreams of the Virgin Mary and in some of them I’m super afraid of her. When I was a kid in Catholic school I would see this enormous larger than life statue that always creeped me out for some reason (it wasnt a really pretty statue) and I think thats where that fear comes from because my grandma told me a story about a statue of Mary coming to life and it scared me alot as a kid. But not all of them are bad in some of them I see her as really beautiful and looking at me and have a good feeling with it. I love the blessed mother, I just wonder why in some of these dreams I’m afraid.
Also I notice I have alot of nightmares when after I start praying the rosary often… Can anyone relate or offer any advice for prayer? Should I just not put so much importance on dreams?

i’ve never had the slightest fear of any icon, image, statue or painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary

to me; these holy reminders are inspiring & more or less the bulwark of my catholic faith

i like to’ve said i’d’ve’d a dream about Mary; i never have

i wish i did…

Since she is above all Angels I am pretty sure the fear comes from her protectors. It is like seeing the greatest Queen and the guards who love her want to make sure she is treated with respect. She is not God and can’t defend herself by nature.
I am sure she loves you and I am sure God loves you for staying in veneration of her even despite these negative feelings.
Plus you are super close to God when you are close to Him fear is in order and is best when encountering the Majesty of Heaven.
You are a faithful person I am sure. I pray God helps you in your life and brings you ever closer to Him.

Some dreams are divinely inspired. Other dreams, many times, contain a message from yourself to yourself.

Most of our dreams are just the mind sweeping itself out. You probably have memories of your old fear that the dreams are stirring up and trying to sweep out. Mary isn’t scary (except that she scares away the devil and other evil demons).
