I know a lot of new age theories, believe in writting your dreams down and interpreting them. What is the Catholic Church’s teaching? Do they mean something? Are they God’s way of telling us something?

Lastly night was the second time within a short period where I had a similar dream (never before had I had a reoccuring cream), where an abusive person from my past was bullying me, pushing my buttons and emotionally ‘pinning me down’ and making me stuck in an unpleasant situation. In my dream I am so distraught I am screaming like a fool. I wake up with a bit of a headache and with a bit of fear.

Just curious what this is about

St. Joseph was warned in a dream to flee to Egypt. Most dreams are not divinely inspired but our subconscious trying to work through things in our daily life. Perhaps you should pray for that person.
 
I have been writing in my diary and I semi suspect, I am scared that it will happen again.

Let me explain. This person that was abusive to me always made me ‘pay emotionally’ when I dared to even try and set a boundary. In another thread, I explain a situation where I had to set a boundary with someone else and this person got offended. I think I am petrified she will make me ‘pay’ because I try to assert myself

Is this person still in your life? If so, are they someone that you have no way of getting away from? It sounds like your dreams are reflecting an aspect of your life that you are stuggling with. I hope everything works out for you.
 
hello- i go to christian dream interpretation workshops-- and God has warned me of events thru dreams for 50 years – or more-and have kept a journal–

many time a “bad” dream is a window into what the devil wants to do something to you- so God lets you be warrened so you can pray-- Gods perfect will against it–

as the bible says your young will see visions, and your old will dream dreams

ther are ministry’s like john paul jackson that have been functioning for 30 years you can go on u-tube and view for your self–i know another woman audrey langdon who wrote a book on this subject- you could google either one–and make a decision–

but it is really defined as how well you hear from God-- and how he gives you direction and confort

The person who was abusive to me as a child is NOT in my life. The person who did not like the recent boundary I set is. It is someone I will end up bumping into every now and then

Generally, your dreams are just your subconscious taking over. Things that bother you may play out in your dreams, as well as other emotions. A recurring dream could be the result of you thinking about it a lot during the day; then your mind plays it out in a dream at night. For example, I was recently thinking about my “being chased” dreams that had ended a few months ago. Well, I had another one of those dreams that night, simply because they were forefront in my mind during the day. The more you think about and analyze your dream, the more likely you will dream it again.

To me, a dream from God is in a whole different ballpark. I had one once (which is what got me back to closely practicing my faith), and there will be no question in your mind. PM me if you want details.
 
well last night I dreamed i received the Eucharist at Mass and started crying in joy…it was very surreal.
i hope its a good sign since i have just moved into a brand new city for grad school not knowing anybody at all and have other trials.
 
That fact that God uses dreams to communicate with people has a very strong Biblical ground. Many prophets (ex: Daniel, Samuel, Joseph of Egypt, etc) had the ability to interpret dreams and talked to God though dream-like situations. Joseph was warned about Jesus in a dream.

Personally, it has happened before, and I know perfectly when I am dealing with a message from God or just an ordinary dream. In the past, I also had experiences with evil forces in nightmares. I was vulnerable and away from the church, so I became an easy prey. Beware of that, for it can also happen.

It’s easy to know when a dream has supernatural origin or not: when you wake up, you just feel different. It is not like a regular dream that you forget completely a few days later. Nowadays I have the habit to get out of bed and take notes when these dreams happen, so I won’t forget the details about them.

Don’t ignore them, write them down and try to interpret them.
 
I would not put to much stalk into “Recurring dreams” I have been having recurring dreams for years that I am back in high school trying to graduate. I though they would go away when I went back to school as a adult and graduated finally. But I still have them every once in awhile.

I have been clean of drugs for over 6 years but I always have dreams that I am still on drugs. Always. That is what I dream about most. I have no desire to do drugs again but that is just what is in my subconscious for some reason and it has not gone away even after these past 6 years I have been clean. It does not mean anything.

Dreams from God, I somehow suspect you would know. Recurring dreams (Two in a row… meh… try more times than you can count for the last 6 years) I suspect mean absolutely nothing other than what is in your subconscious.
