I’ve been to a few convalidations, and the “bride” always just wore a nice dress and the “groom” wore a normal suit. Maybe one step up from church clothes? Close to what you’d wear as a guest at a wedding.

I think I have decided on a white tea-length dress with flowers in my hair. That way its bridal but not to “Wedding” I am hoping that since they have gone out of style I can find one at GoodWill. Also we have a Cancer Society Discover store near by that has an amazing wedding section.

Let’s go to SENCART,the site has dress with excellent quality and reasonable price.my friend has buy one dress .maybe you like this dress

Since a “convalidation” is “THE” wedding in the eyes of the Church, there’s no reason not to wear your wedding dress, since you will be getting married at the convalidation. There is no particular Church requirements for the kind of dress you wear- some people prefer a low key convalidation wedding and others like to wear the wedding clothes. The only requirement is that they are modest and suitable for receiving the sacrament of marriage. Remember, “convalidation” is not a matter of getting your marriage blessed. It is contracting marriage in the eyes of God and the Church for the first time. Blessings on your upcoming wedding!

This dress is just stunning!!! It only needs a little bolero jacket (found just about anywhere this time of year).

This IS your wedding - the event you had previously was not when you were married - THIS is when you are married!!

Congratulations on your upcoming SACRAMENTAL marriage!! 😃

Is it supposed to be white? I would feel funny wearing a white wedding dress while I have 4 kids. I ask becuase I need to get my marriage validated too. Another quick question. Does it have to be a big ceremony? I don’t want to make a big deal out of it. I dislike that kind of attention and would feel odd inviting people.
Don’t mean to cereal.
Do you have a marshals ot TJ Max near you?

No it doesn’t have to be white.

And no it doesn’t have to be a big ceremony. Most people will see you as already married and will have no idea why you are doing what you are doing. Honestly, my in-laws thought I was crazy.

Does anyone think it would be wrong to wear an actual wedding dress? ?
absolutely not, if that is what you want and fits in with the rest of your plans, you are getting married so your wedding can be whatever you want it to be and can afford

Not sure if you have decided for sure, but Latter Day Bride has gorgeous dresses. They have wedding dresses, bridesmaid, and just nice dresses-under $70. They are so pretty and of course modest, without being frumpy.

Here is a link to their regular dresses page

I am thinking either a tea length or semi-formal dress. I wanna try to get something under $50. I wanna wear a dress just because I am a dress person. I very rarely were pants to church.

We did our convalidation last year-- and I wore a nice floral dress with a white shrug type sweater (I thought the sleeves were too short for church). Hubby worse slacks, a shirt and tie. We had been married with children for 15 years, had a huge wedding back then. There is now way I could fit into my wedding dress. :o

Convalidations seem to run the gamut from simple affairs with just two witnesses to a second formal wedding with attendants, a big dress, flowers and caterers. I have wonderful memories of our convalidation, and frankly I’m glad we opted to just do an extremely simple ceremony and top it off with cake and champagne afterwards with just a dozen family and friends. No presents, no muss, no fuss, but my marriage was recognized by the church, and that’s priceless!

A convalidation is a wedding. The vows are exactly the same. It was funny to see my first name with my maiden name in the wedding banns in our parish bulletin 13 years after being legally married. If you want to wear a wedding dress, there’s nothing wrong with that. My original wedding dress was made into our daughter’s baptism dress so it no longer existed (and I wouldn’t have fit into it anyway). I wore a tea length ivory dress that had a soft rose print on it that I purchased from a local department store. (Like a sunday dress). I did get a bridal bouquet and a had rosary woven into it. My matron of honor (witness) carried roses tied with a ribbon. During the convalidation we removed two roses from her bouquet to lay at the blessed virgin statues feet. Our daughter was 9 at the time and was our flower girl. She wanted a basket bouquet to carry so we got her that.

Have you looked at bridesmaids dresses? They are often more modest than prom dresses. For my wedding, the only dress I liked was a fancy floor-length bridesmaid dress. I ordered it in white, it came in a few weeks later, and I loved it.

And congrats on your convalidation!

I was going to suggest a thrift store or a consignment store. I have found the most amazing things at the stores I frequent in Manhattan! I love clothes, but if I were to pay retail for the things I’ve found second hand, I wouldn’t be able to make my rent! 😃

I hope you find something amazing!
