Is there any particular drill or course for a person suffering from certain habits again and again?

Go to confession and explain your problem to the priest and ask his advice and follow it carefully and see if things get better. You may not win right away but as long as you make a little progress that’s the main thing. With prayer and the sacraments you can win.

“In trying to get rid of bad habits, it is of the greatest importance not to put off going to confession after a fall, and also to keep to the same confessor.” St. Philip Neri

Physical activity works, if it is practical at the time. Otherwise, reading the bible is always a help. Just open at random and see what God has in mind for you.:angel1::blessyou:

Try to relax and next time you do it, really take an honest observation of how you feel when you do it. Does it make you feel relaxed? Important? Motivated? Euphoric? Numb?

Do you think of yourself as less good of a person because of it? If so, that may work against you. Or is it something that makes you think better of yourself? That may work against you too. In general if your self-image is tied to whether you do this habit, it will have some amount of control over you. :okpeople:

Then you could pray and/or self-talk, that whatever it is that draws you to the repeated action, you will either lose the need for that, or find another way to meet the need that would presumably have less negative effects than the original habit. If you get good at it, you can do a lot with mental exercises. Really I think this could be helpful for both mental people and feelings people. 🙂

These aren’t from any book. I just made them up, based on my experience what kind of self-talk and prayers helped me. 😉

The physical activity suggestion was good, too. I’m pretty bad about that, but the little bit I’ve been improving in that area is already making me feel better. :dancing:
