I believe drinking and driving is grave matter and mortal sin if the usual conditions are met. When does that line get crossed?

Obviously when you know you are very drunk and will fail a roadside test if caught - but sadly I have attempted it in the past feeling a little tipsy and I ought to have known better.

Does driving “tipsy” or buzzed cross the line too into sin? Legally it might be ok if you’re under the limit but feels like morally it is not.

Also feels like texting and driving can be grave matter as well as you’re putting lives at risk including your own…

People seem to be so connected to their cell phones and other electronic devices.
There is no reason that a person should be trying to text or talk on the phone while operating a potentially lethal weapon in a moving vehicle on a street or highway.
Turn off the phone or any other device when you get behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Yep. Maybe parishes should tell everyone it’s potentially mortal sin to text and drive and that would put a stop to it among Catholics- more than any police action would! 🙂
