The group thing is pretty much the only situation all these shutdowns are addressing. I can still get takeout food for example. We could still transmit disease if somebody making my food or serving me gets viruses on the container, or I have viruses and they pass to the counter person on my credit card or money when I pay. If I get delivery then we have the delivery person touching the bags and containers and stuff. The only thing that’s getting addressed is not having 10 to 50 people all eating in the restaurant at once with several more wait staff running around.

I think one of my co-workers saw something either on the CDC website or CNN about heat killing the virus… but I’m not sure if that’s just for washing your clothes or if it apply to cooking food as well.

But I’m guess if the people who cook your food are careful with how they handle it, its okay for them to cook for you… I’m guessing.

It’s not a matter of me being “offended”.

You’re claiming to be both a Lutheran and a Catholic at once.

If you are originally a Catholic (either by being baptized into the faith or by converting later), then this isn’t permitted, and you are gravely sinning; you’re putting your soul at risk. It’s like you came on here and posted that you’re married and having an affair with someone outside your marriage and expect us to say that’s perfectly fine. It’s not fine, and we have a duty to point out that this is a sin when you post about it like it’s nothing.

If, on the other hand, you are originally a Lutheran and never were received into the Catholic Church, you’re not a Catholic. You’re a Lutheran, and you should not be calling yourself Catholic or receiving Catholic Holy Communion.

Having pointed this out, I’ve done my duty as a Catholic. What you choose to do is up to you and you’re the one who will need to explain it to the Almighty. I also point it out because people read these forums to learn about correct Catholic teaching, and if they read your posts and no one refutes them, they may very well decide it’s just fine to be a Catholic and a Lutheran at the same time. Again, it’s not just fine. It’s wrong.

I really wish people on here would understand the difference between being “offended” and pointing out a large, obvious, probably grave sin that someone has chosen to just blithely ignore and post about like Jesus personally gave them permission. I’m not the one who is offended - God is.

I’ll leave it at that.

I already made up my mind not to attend any more because I don’t want to accidentally get other people sick, and it looks like churches will be closed in the near future anyway, but frankly, I’m already wishing there was some sort of way for me to receive remotely. It could be several weeks or months before we get to celebrate Mass again as a large group of people. That’s a long time. But if I need to wait, then of course, I will wait.

I should hope that people would give me and other people the benefit of the doubt and not assume I don’t take it seriously or that I’m treating Jesus as if he were fast food.

I am not sure I am willing to trust people touching my food. :crazy_face:

Back to the subject of drive through communion…
Our diocese in Northern Illinois just announced that effective tomorrow (March 18th) daily and Sunday masses will be suspended, but weddings, funerals, etc. can still be held following the safety limitation guidelines.
That being said, I am in favor of some sort of concept to get communion to the masses during this and potentially other future situations like this. Earlier posts have gotten it correct that the majority of Catholics are not familiar with spiritual communion and are counting on their Church to “reach out to them” in this time of great need.
I think it’s a good idea for The Church to recognize this quickly and deploy EM’s with instructions for this situation (newly created, if necessary) to get The Eucharist to the faithful.
USCCB gives our bishops enough authority to make this happen without the need for consulting the conference. God Bless us all throughout this time!

When you’re like me and spend half your time up to your wrists in dirty cat litter pans with the little darlings then dancing all over the kitchen counters, you get less squeamish about a lot of things 🙂 I would never invite anyone over or in here unless it was another “animal person” and believe me I have heard it all from my friends in pet rescue, some of them have stories worse than what goes on in my home.

I’m reminded of the stories about Ma and Pa Kettle in Betty MacDonald’s old “Egg and I” book…my house often feels like the Kettles. I like to think it boosts my immune system.

I like to do my housework to the sound of the Royal Scot Dragoon Guards and my iPad alarm is The Queen’s Guards Pipes & Drums’ Heiken’s Serenade. Nobody stays asleep when that goes off!
