Hey everyone,
The other day, i found out while driving to school that one of the brake lights on my car was busted. We were unable to fix it that night so yesterday i just took the bus. However, today I had to drive it home after my sister drove it to a bus station so she could return to college and we really had no other option but to drive that car. My father was sick yesterday and even though i bought new bulbs, we did not fix it and i drove back with a broken light and then drove it to school late. Was this a sin? I know its a sin to break the law and disobey civil authority but i also feel like i had no other real choice. Should i have tried harder for an alternative? My sister and I also stopped for some food along the way. Was this wrong because we drove there too? I know it seems scrupulous but i appreciate all answers. 🙂

IMHO, you are being too scrupulous. I don’t see a sin. Fix the light bulb as soon as you can and let it go.

By this logic, if you intentionally run a stop sign it is a mortal sin (it’s a sin, you knew it was a sin, you intentionally committed the sin) - I don’t see God having you do some cleansing time in purgatory for running a stop sign.
