Ok what’s this dubia and “Amoris Laetita” about? They are wanting the Pope to clarify something about re marriage and the host?

A dubium is a letter, usually in the form of a question, sent to Apostolic See or one of the Vatican congregations such as the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith asking for clarification. With the CDF it would be clarification on matters of doctrine.

In the case you refer to, several cardinals sent a dubium (question) to the Pope, asking for clarification on some of the text of Amoris Laetita. Dubia is the plural of dubium. Since it contained 5 questions, it would technical be a dubia rather than a dubium.

the controversy stems from the fact that Pope Francis declined to respond to the dubia, and the cardinals went public with the contents of their dubia. The cardinals have now taken it a step further and requested a papal audience on the matter.

OK I saw this on EWTN nightly. I was wondering what was going on. Something I see online is about the family Synod. I wonder why the Pontiff isn’t clearing things up.

And let’s keep in mind the Pope’s mantra of “dialogue”. Seems strange to me he will dialogue with Joel Osteen, Obama, Lutheran archbishop, a transgender “couple”…but not with his own Cardinals?

We don’t know that the Holy Father won’t dialogue with these Cardinals. In truth we only know what the Cardinals have made public. I am in no way saying the Cardinals are being less than truthful. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes we will possibly never know. It isn’t required we know all the details, it is required we be faithful to the Church and her leader on earth.

Just an FYI - Don’t take what MSM say about what the Pope has or hasn’t done. They often miss the details or the context, mostly from ignorance of the Catholic Church. There are some good news sites that report the truth within the context of the Catholic Church.

Also welcome home!

That is a very good question. Pope Francis doesn’t mind offering his opinion on every other subject under the sun. Why the hesitancy to explain what he has proclaimed?

Exactly what I was thinking.

Four out of 220 Cardinals are unhappy with Pope Francis mainly because their Pride was hurt in Pope Francis downgrading their titles and duties. In my opinion they are attempting to embarrass the Pope on church dogma and Pope Francis refuses to get them a platform to do so.

Perhaps it is time to oil the squeaky wheel then?

You’re entitled to your opinion, but you do not say that your first sentence is an opinion; you lay it out as ‘gospel truth’. Where is your source to make such a claim that the cardinals are 'unhappy because their pride was hurt?

World Over is different from EWTN News Nightly. The clip I shared featured Pentin and Fr. Murray. I do not know if that is what you saw.

it appears there is confusion with different interpretations in different dioceses. wouldn’t that at least require a clarification?

Thank you…it is so very good to be home knowing I’m being told Truth.

Please know, I am Catholic today because of “stumbling” on very traditional Catholic sites, so I don’t get my news from MSM…for ANYTHING. I don’t even have cable. I trust the sources that drew me to the truth of the faith and get my info from them; Remnant, OnePeter5, Fisheaters, LifesiteNews and Ann Barnhardt. I just read that the four Cardinals wrote PF in April to request an audience and since there is still no reply, the letter has been made public. This, together will all the things he has said, people he has met with…IDK…but I know something is not right with him.**

DebbieKono, when it xomes to the dubia issue, reliable news are those from Raymond Arroyo on World Over, Pentin from NCRegister, Dr. Robert Royal and Fr. Gerald Murray from The Catholic Thing, and Crisis Magazine. The website you mentioned 1P5 is good too, along with the others.

Actually, it’s more than four now. But regardless, he needs to clarify some things. In Argentina and Germany and probably many other places too they are allowing divorced and remarried to receive Holy Communion. And in defense of the good Cardinal Burke, I have personal friends who know him…and they say he is a very humble and holy man. I’m currently taking the Fr. Hardon Catechism class and when I finish this fall I get the honor of meeting Cardinal Burke…I’ll let you know what he’s like up close and personal.

It is more but many are afraid of a backlash so they keep silent. Can’t blame them. I saw on Twitter a priest who said that Raymond Arroyo should be fired from EWTN for being disrespectful to the Pope. What the heck? I am sorry, but he’s wrong.

Fin…I just noticed you’re a “RIGID” Catholic. 🙂 Do you attend the TLM?

I don’t get to attend to TLM as there’s not one in my area. However, I have attended a few times in another city. I love the reverence. If it were up to me, I would like to go regularly. I do receive Communion on the tongue, pray the Rosary in Latin, etc. 🙂
