We’ll have to disagree. As others have pointed out numerous times on the forums, God is not playing “gotcha” with us and so won’t differentiate between a baptism of desire and a baptism by water.
I’m not sure if you’re aware how it works, but with some Diocesan appeals, if the parish doesn’t meet quota, it’s just taken out of parish operating expenses. So the whole “let’s punish the diocese/bishops by not donating” gambit only really winds up punishing the parishes and the priests. Not a SINGLE penny of my contributions will go to the diocese.
I think that would diminish the Eucharist terribly in the eyes of others to do it ‘drive through’. Do more harm than good and probably not even licit.Meanwhile I see a 5 car pile up on both sides of a drive thru coffee booth, while in town… because, you know… that’s “essential”.
