How bad is it to badmouth someone the priest knows in the Confessional? Say you have to give explicit details of the confession and because of that you end up revealing bad & offensive behavior of someone else–someone the priest thinks highly of? What should you do when you can’t keep the “other person” anonymous?
I agree with what the other posters have said…
Also please look at your post …
You ask: “How
bad is it to
badmouth someone the priest knows in the Confessional?” Your use of terms should make the answer obvious …
I ask you: Is it bad to “badmouth” a person at anytime to anyone? Would you want some one to"badmouth" you at any time, to any person in any situational setting?
The focus of our attention when we seek to be reconcilled to God and our fellow human community is on our personal failings and sins … not on that of our neighbor …
Personally speaking: I have been tempted to confess my sins and then to offer rationale for my behavoir … thankkfully, I have never had a priest who let me get away with it … I own my sins

, hopefully I can over come my weaknesses … but only if I try really hard to look internally and not externally at those who share the same vicinity as me
Good Luck and God Bless you, have a blessed Easter seaon with a renewed spirit …
