Dumb Question About Wives of Deacons & Married Priests

If you are a female and are married to a deacon or a priest, are you not required to be Catholic? How can a man be ordained in the fullness of the Church if his own spouse, the one he took vows with, is not Catholic?

In our diocese, we have an ex-protestant minister becoming a priest. His wife is not Catholic. (True, I have a problem with married priests but if the Vatican allowed it, who am I to question it?)

It would seem, however, if the Vatican is going to allow something like this both the husband and wife should be Catholic.
 
Perhaps should be Catholic, but nothing requires a Catholic to marry only a Catholic. The marriage occurs prior to ordination. It is acceptable. There is the question whether it is prudent for this individual to be ordained, however.
 
If the bishop allows it, he’s within his rights. But of course, it would be a good idea to pray for the conversion of the wife!
