Will someone please explain to me why the SSPX are the bad guys and heretics such as these are slapped on the wrist or worse ignored? Who are we trying to please here? God or Rome? I don’t agree w/ the SSPX, but I understand their position more clearly everytime I read of heresy such as this.
I completely agree.

I do not support the SSPX, and I do think that Rome was right in excommunicating Archbishop Lefebvre and the bishops he illicitly consecrated. But what really angers me is that Rome was so quick to excommunicate the SSPX- who, despite their schismatic actions, are orthodox in regards to doctrine- but chooses to turn a blind eye to those persons and groups who are unquestionably heretical.

I have nothing but respect for His Holiness, and I do not presume to know what is actually going on his mind, but I will say again that to those on the outside it often seems that the Holy Father and the Roman curia are in their own little world. Benedict XVI is a brilliant theologian, but he has not lived up to his reputation as God’s Rottweiler that preceded his reign. In all honesty, he has turned out little better then John Paul II. He is a theological genius, but in this time of trial the Church needs an enforcer more then it needs a theologian.

This is all really frustrating for me. Honestly, it’s stuff like this that makes me wonder if the Orthodox were right all along…With the Pope having full, immediate, ordinary jurisdiction over all churches you would think he should put a to stop this nonsense from in a second; especially since he’s supposed to be working for the good of the church, does anybody else see how letting this stuff be taught in our churches do us any good?

It is tempting not to agree with the position taken by the SSPX. But then, Catholics must be loyal to Rome, even when Rome is not loyal to them. St. Thomas More said “even if all the bishops are against me, I have the hosts of Heaven on my side”.

That is a great quote… the funny thing is, it could very easily be used by the SSPX!

I can explain to you why the SSPX are the bad buys. The answer is revealed in a quote that comes from the day of the Arian crisis.

St. Basil: “Only one offense is now vigorously punished, an accurate observance of our fathers’ traditions”.
