The Dutch government is drafting a decree that would give the government veto power over anyone who wants to practice ritual slaughter, or shechita, in the Netherlands.

The draft decree, which was signed by Dutch Agriculture Minister Henk Bleker, was drawn up by the government to end two years of uncertainty about the future of the practice in the Netherlands. The Dutch daily NRC Handelsblad published the contents of the draft decree on Friday.

“If veterinarians are put in charge of shechita, then before long it would basically stop shechita in the Netherlands,” Amsterdam Chief Rabbi Aryeh Ralbag told JTA.
Once again, it’s more important to be politically correct than to respect religious liberty.

The irony is thick. Recall, too, that the Dutch are world leaders in euthanasia. (Such an honor…)

We are not living in a world that values animals, for over 60 billion land animals are killed yearly in worst cruel and unethical ways for human consumption and which is not a necessity for our specie to survive by the use of their corpses.
Proof, open your refrigerator.
As for the unborn, it’s totally two different subjects, but the matter of fact that most of aborted unborn are not yet sentient, they’re just a group of cells with no sentiments, no conscience, no ability for experiences and feelings.

I really wonder how can religious people who slaughter animals on the streets in most barbaric ways while laughing, ask their god to give them “Compassion” when they’re unwilling to give it to other creatures simply because they’re born animals.

Oh dear, PETA would be surely jumping for joy after hearing this.

Prove it. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

If humans do not have inherent worth, neither do animals.

Done correctly, halal slaughter is far kinder than the usual method which can leave animals to thrash around in agony because the stun gun didn’t kill them properly.

This is based on the BS assumption that the brain is what generates consciousness. I defy you to give evidence of the mechanism by which it does so. The brain is a valuable tool to the soul, but there is no magic chemical reaction that causes awareness.

Absolutely correct!

Animals have value.

The US cattle industry alone is worth $79 billion and creates over 1.4 million full-time jobs.

Problem is that for most of the industry, that’s ALL the animals are- walking bags of money. There’s little feeling or thought to the fact that these animals are sentinent (up to a point anyway) and feeling creatures which feel pain.

With most ritual slaughter, animals are killed seperately from each other and the slaughterer takes time to devote the animal’s life to God (who gave that creature life in the first place) before gently slitting the throat of the animal, allowing it to die quietly and painlessly (blood loss results in a quick death).

The Dutch are so yesterday… the U.S. Govt. did the same thing under Roosevelt. One of the cases that brought down the NRA was “Schecter Bros.”, a case against Jewish poulterers in New York. The Schecters’ big crime was to allow the customer to choose the live chicken before they killed it.

Prove it and while you are at it prove that you are not just a group of cells with: no sentiments, consience, ability for experiences and feelings, and sentient. 🤷

Did they try something such as to get reactions from the unborn child?

Not to mention placing great value on animal life, and no value at all on human life.

It’s a lack of education, combined with the desire to feel in some way superior to the rest of one’s “specie.”

(Use of non-words such as “specie” and “sapien” being the hallmark of the semi-educated.)

Less then 70 years after the Shoah and the extermination of one in every two European Jews, we are fast reaching the point where it is becoming illegal to be practice Judaism in Europe. We are fast reaching the point where anyone openly identified with the Jewish people or the Jewish state, finds themselves not only a target of derision but in physical danger. Where Jewish places of worship, Jewish schools Jewish institutions and even the Jewish dead in Jewish cemeteries require the presence of armed guards for protection. Where “Kauft Nicht Bei Juden” (Don’t buy from the Jews) rings out now in the accepted form of “Don’t buy from the Jewish state”. Where the traditional hateful lies and libels against the Jews have been replaced with new modern libels involving the Jewish people in their eternal homeland. A pernicious “New anti-Semitism”, where once again it is permissible to openly give vent against Jews. We are at a time when a Jew cannot walk down a street with a Kippah on his head, to bring his son into the covenant of Abraham, to eat Kosher meat, to have an eruv in his town, to erect a sukkah on his balcony, to wear a star of David around his neck, to place without fear a mezuzah on the doorpost of his house, to walk freely to and from synagogue, to send his children to a Jewish school without worry, to be a Zionist, to be unmolested when attending a University, to watch a Jewish or Israeli cultural production or lecture without shouts and interruptions. The European sickness toward the Jews remained hidden for a few decades in the uncomfortable embarrassment of genocide. However, it is back with a vengeance. The reasons don’t matter. What’s important is that this time for European Jews there exists a place where they’re all welcome and where they will always be free to be Jews. Maybe it’s time for them to come home.

Are you serious? One country choosing to ban kosher meat doesn’t equal anti-Semitism. And most of the practices you list are very much legal to practice and protected under the law of pretty much any civilized country in the West.

This post is pure hyperbole and you know it.

On the other hand, I think it’s significant that London, Manchester, Paris and Amsterdam have thriving Jewish communities even after the Holocaust. The problem of anti-Semitism as it exists in Europe is not as superficial or broad as you paint the picture of it.

And it is not merely a problem of anti-Semitism or ignorance of Jewish customs, but a general problem some factions have with any group that has “strange” or “backward” values. It is a problem that affects Muslims and immigrants and migrants, and ultimately I think, everyone else as well.
