Dutch government plans to regulate ritual slaughter (no more Kosher meat)

When I was a teenager growing up on an Oklahoma ranch I was an avid hunter for sport. When I got back from the Marines in WWII I never again killed another of God’s creatures except to eat it, and only fish at that. I am a gun owner for personal and home defense and have a concealed weapon permit and would not hesitate to protect myself with no prior negotiation involved. I am of the opinion that the Dutch government has invoked this pogrom to pander to its fast growing Muslim population. Too bad for the country of Anne Frank.
 
Good. Maybe the Muslims will leave and the Jewish people can stay by having their kosher meat processed in Belgium and Germany and sold through distributors in Holland.

Why should Muslims leave? They’ve got every right to be there, like anyone else. Being Muslim isn’t a crime.

Well, in my own personal opinion, I’d have to say: too bad. Glad you’ve got the skill you need to kill humanely, but when you’re one of only a few (to use a bit of hyperbole) who can do so, the only way to stop the unskilled from effectively torturing the wildlife out there to death is to outlaw bow hunting for sport.

Being as I have never eaten non-kosher corned beef, I couldn’t answer that. But I would be surprised if that’s the case. Some people have the idea that kosher food is somehow better, more supervised, cleaner, etc. I personally don’t think that this is necessarily the case. Call me a skeptic,but…
I am not a hunter anymore, but I have heard that venison that has been obtained by gunfire and instant death tastes better than when the poor anmal is cruelly shot by bow and arrow resultng in an extended time of terrible agony before its throat is cut. I am for laws that prohibit bow hunting.

Again, totally outside my knowledge base. Although I love to shoot (and I had an M-16 for over 10 years), it has always been targets- not live animals.

But catching them without harming them would be difficult. They probably need to be semi-domesticated.

The Nazi’s also outlawed kosher slaughter under “humanitarian grounds”

BTW, kosher slaughter (when properly done, a caveat for animal slaughter) causes a sting at most, and then essentially the animal falls to sleep–we know this from humans who have been brought back from exanguinasion (bleeding to death)

I can’t believe everyone here is talking about animals and how to slaughter animals. That is really irrelevant. The only thing that matters here is religious freedom. The religious rights of our Jewish brothers and sisters are being taken away by a bunch of Godless secularists.

Once again, the Europeans, in this case the Dutch, are discriminating against the most persecuted group in human history: the Jews. As Catholics, we should defend our Jewish brothers and sisters from their enemies.

The ancestors of the Dutch who helped hide Jews from the Nazis would be ashamed at what their children are doing to the Jews now. That’s right… the dead relatives of every Dutchmen who is persecuting the Jews would be rolling in their graves!!!

Those lawmakers are still guilty of sin. They had the intent to persecute Jews.

You think they’ll go to Heaven if they don’t repent of that sin? If those lawmakers don’t get thee to a confessional and repent, then may God have mercy on their souls, because they’re going to need it.

Is there anyone that is unrepentant for persecuting the Jews that is in Heaven? I doubt it. Sure, I’m sure there are plenty of Nazis that repented who are in Heaven, but are there any unrepentant ones? I doubt it.

And yes, I’ll gladly lend my voice, in a loud fashion, to protect the Jewish faith and the Jewish people.

The proposal was, originally, from a political party called the ‘Party for Animals’ (yes, the Dutch have such a party with seats in the Parliament) - post #150 on this thread has more on the subject.
 
Well, I don’t have any money! So, even though it “might pay”, it certainly didn’t in actuality.

IE: I noticed that from the beginning.

I’ve kept track of Dutch elections. That party has like 2 or 3 seats. But again, it’s irrelevant. How does their party or ideology excuse them from what they proposed?

Ok, so they’re whacko’s like PETA. They attacked the Jewish faith. The reasoning behind it doesn’t matter. In the Court of God’s Justice, they will have explaining to do.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, I pray:
Father God, I pray that these lawmakers would repent of their sins and follow Your Son Jesus Christ. Let them at least one time in their lives see the work of the Holy Spirit, that they might choose to accept or reject You, thus ensuring their own fates. Amen.
