“The new guidelines for infant euthanasia are quite simple: It can occur when the baby’s pain cannot be eased and when there is no prospect for improvement. Parents must, of course, agree to it.”

A moral alternative in babies with a lot of pain and incurable disorders would be to give them pain medication to ease the pain. If the pain was not eased with a standard dose, the dose can morally be increased until the pain is eased. If the baby happens to die from an overdose of pain medicine which had the intent of relieving pain, that would not be considered murder, but a side effect of necessary medical treatment.

however, if there is a level where pain still is present but the child’s prospects are improving, there is no moral defence for OD’ing them anyway IMHO.

Absolutely 👍 The overdosing with pain medicine can only be used during the dying process, I believe.

My favorite part of this article was the parents saying, “When we see her in heaven, she will tell us we reached the right decision for her.” Warms the cockles of my heart.
I also love the fact that this was so balanced in giving an opposite perspective from someone who thinks letting a child die naturally instead of murdering them is a good idea. You know this was done for the parent’s convenience and to end THEIR suffering at watching a loved one die slowly and running up their hospital bill.
It’s just scary because you hear stories like this and like the ones where women in hospitals are tied down and given forced c-sections and it almost makes you scared to have children. Like, i just want to flee from the medical community and have all my babies in a cabin in the woods where no one can kill them for having three legs or Down’s Syndrome. It is so true that the lies of the Devil are painted to look like good so that the world can buy them and think they are doing right and those trying to do God’s will become the monsters. Mary, Queen of the Holy Angels, pray for us all.
