Is it a sin to search and look at subject just for curiosity?
 
Thanks; I was referring to the latest photo i the European newspapers.
 
Is it wrong to look at a naked body if you aren’t lusting after it?
 
In all honesty Tommy I’m not clear why this would be a sin then. If you weren’t looking at it for lustful reasons?

And you shouldn’t feel right about looking at it, your instinct is correct, I’m afraid.
It was an invasion and unwelcome that these images were effectively stolen from a couple who would not choose to share intimate images of themselves callously causing distress to a young woman and her husband. It is clear that the couple are upset and don’t wish these photos to be published. Anyone who publishes them does so for sensationalism and financial gain. No one has the right to these photos, and curiosity about someone else’s half naked body and half naked wife is not without sin. Anyone who seeks out the images now now have an image in their minds of this lady that they have no right to have of someone else’s wife.

I do actually agree that in this case the pictures should not be published and we shouldn’t seek them out. I would be hesitant to outright call it sinful. That’s something better presented to a priest.
 
She’s a total hottie, but I think even royals should have a little privacy. I admit that if the photos weren’t taken through such nefarious means, I’d be mighty tempted to look at them… NOT saying I’d DO it… just be tempted to do so…
 
Something in the sense of accepting stolen goods,
and these are half-naked pictures looked at because they are just that, images of an exposed body.
Publishing these pictures made porn of them.

Those who publish such photos bear the greatest responsibility, and the Catechism states “Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of pornographic materials.”

Ask yourself how you would feel if people were looking up nude pictures of your daughter out of curiosity. Well, that’s God’s daughter.
 
What would you tell Prince William when you come before him in the receiving line and he asks you why you were looking at his naked wife? Will you tell him you didn’t lust and it was only curiosity, so it was OK? Will you say the same thing to Lord Jesus on the day of your Judgement, and He is standing before the gates of Heaven and the gates of Hell? If it is OK to look at one married woman’s embarrassing photos in your curiosity, is it OK to look at another? What about a dozen? Why not a hundred more? If you are just looking, is it OK to save that file to look just for a second time? What about a hundred looks? If you saved the picture, you might as well just print it out once. Why not in color too? Since it is OK to look with curiosity, isn’t it OK to take your own camera and find young women in embarrassing private situations, and photograph them for yourself? Why not share the photo with a friend? How about publishing it? You’re not doing it from lust.

Why is looking at a naked body sinful though?

The naked body of a married woman? I can agree that this is crossing a line but nudity in itself is not inherently evil.

I always have to question people who say they want to look at nude photos but don’t have lust in their hearts, only curiosity. If you’ve seen one pair of breasts, you know what they look like and there’s really no need to want to look at more. 😉

I didn’t say that it was.

There was an interesting pair of articles in Columbia a while ago. That is the magazine published by and for the Knights of Columbus. The first article explained the virtues of fine art, and showed examples from the Vatican and such, which includes bodies wearing not so many clothes. And the second article was about the evils of pornography, and how it was designed to appeal to man’s basest desires. I was certainly struck by the difference.

So is a sneaky paparazzi photo of a topless married woman art?
 
i haven’t seen these pictures yet. But i believe that except in the privacy of your room or enclosed space, one shouldn’t expose oneself in the open be it in your backyard or other wise. Without meaning to sound pruddish,if we are trying to emulate the life of christ and Mary our Mother, i think modesty is the word here.
