Duties of extraordinary minister

Hi again Lisa,

…and you sure sound like a wonderful asset to the ministry. Unfortunately, many wonderful and devout people refuse to do this ministry because they think they are not worthy. Truth is…NONE of us are worthy, but we are needed especially to the sick and homebound. Every time I get discouraged,:crying: I just remember that the people I serve would not get Holy Communion if I quit.:harp:

At our Parish the words Eucharistic Ministers are used all the time. It disturbs me greatly and I am happy you pointed out that we are Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. I don’t know when the term changed or if we were ever called Eucharistic Ministers but apparently it has not gotten out to all exactly what we are to be called.

[156.] This function is to be understood strictly according to the name by which it is known, that is to say, that of extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, and not “special minister of Holy Communion” nor “extraordinary minister of the Eucharist” nor “special minister of the Eucharist”, by which names the meaning of this function is unnecessarily and improperly broadened.
