I know the natural law forbids mutilation (except in medical cases, like the amputation of an infected limb). So I was wondering why ear piercing is not considered as mutilation. If the argument is that it doesn’t affect bodily functions, then we could as well cut the whole earlobe and some other little parts of the body (external or internal) that do not have any real function and it would still not be considered mutilation. And this would not be considered mutilation either, because she didn’t impede any of her bodily functions: https://goo.gl/images/K5ReSy

However this doesn’t sound right. So it seems to me that there is no reason to consider ear piercing as an acceptable exception, and that mutilation is what it is: any distortion of one’s normal and natural conformity of the body.
At best we could argue perhaps that ear piercing is only a venial sin and not a grave sin.

Any thoughts? Or did I miss something?

ear piercing is alright for women and not for men.

Ezekiel 16:11 I adorned you with ornaments: I put bracelets on your arms, a chain on your neck, 12 a ring on your nose, earrings in your ears, and a beautiful crown upon your head. 13 You were adorned with gold and silver, while your clothing was of fine linen, rich fabric, and embroidered cloth. You had choice flour and honey and oil for food. You grew exceedingly beautiful, fit to be a queen. 14 Your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, for it was perfect because of my splendor that I had bestowed on you, says the Lord God.

2 Corinthians 11: 3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by its cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure[a] devotion to Christ.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple[a] of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20 For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.

Romans 12:1-2I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.

I’ve heard people who actually cut their tongues -
So they can look like they have a snake tongue.

I’ve seen nose rings too…lip rings…too bad.
Not from God…

I don’t see why it would be acceptable for one gender and not the other. It is a kind of mutilation for both men and women.
Furthermore, a quote from the OT is not a proof since many things in the OT are immoral. Even the ancient laws of the Jews have many moral defects.

Because they are meant for women to adorned with ornaments for themselves to look beautiful.not for men.as an eg 1 Corinthians 11:14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair, it is degrading to him,

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.the Word of God is for past present and future.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is inspired by God and is[a] useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter,[c] not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. 19 Therefore, whoever breaks[d] one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Yes, women tend naturally to adorn themselves more than men. But they could do that without having their ears pierced.

I believe as you that the OT is inspired by God. But that doesn’t mean that all the practices described there are moral.

Well, women have their own freewill to choose, what looks good on them and for them,is best left to themselves.each individual have their own mind is it not?
