I have only seen 2 people drop to their backs in church before, both were being prayed for with the laying on of hands for a healing.

2 people in 6 years between about 7 Assemblies of God Churches.

I think you guys have some kind of distorted view about what happens in the “Common” Pentecostal Church.

When Govenor Palin was nominated for VP, and it became known that she was raised in an Assembles of God Church I knew there had to be a bounty put out, like Larry Flint has for politicians and known clergy being found in embarrassing sexual positions, Except the news media searched for the pictures of her screaming out in tongues and rolling around the floor with Alaskan rattlesnakes. I think that everyone outside of Charismatic and Pentecostal churches envision a “Borat” scenes breaks out everytime two or three of us meet together.

In about eight years I have never seen anyone drop to their back. I’ve heard an interpreted speaking maybe five times.

I’m sure these folks would disagree. Perhaps they prayed too hard and needed some rest.

There is nothing wrong with falling down, with being overwhelmed by the Spirit of God. I am just saying that you guys think it has to happen or nothing spiritual is happening or that it happens all the time and people just fall down all over the place or just because other people are falling down.

I have given you examples from some of the LARGEST Pentecostal denominations in the world, The Assemblies of God (Over 60 Million members) and the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) (over 6 million members), and from my experience with these denominations people are not vainly just falling down all the time.

You have also heard from a member of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel which has over 6 million members across the world and he has also stated that it is not used in vain with people just falling down all over the place.

Like I said though, there is nothing wrong if someone falls down under the presence of the Holy Spirit.

“…and I fell on my face” does not mean “i fell down” or “falling down”. It means to incline the head in reverence and submission, touching the ground. I have seen many Charismatics fall to the ground - literally. Not in submission but actually quiver. I have even seen some slither like snakes on the floor. Now, if the Holy Spirit was indeed at work, i’m sure He would have stopped the Believer from committing venial sins after Church - such as idle gossips about church members, etc. Yes, i have actually witnessed people who “fell on the floor” during service and then gossip shortly afterwards. It never fails to make me laugh. This is why private interpretations of the Bible leads to confusion and error - even for the simplest meanings.
