On Sundays I go to 8:00 AM Mass because I want to avoid the Music they have at 10:00 AM and 11:00 Mass.

Do you have any thoughts on avoiding music?
I couldn’t agree more. Hwever, I don’t have the option of avoiding music since it is at every mass. Since our parish hired a new music director mass has become Sing Along with Mitch.

Being a pre-vatican II catholic, I miss the old low mass/high mass option. Some of us would like to worship in solitude.

Hermit, I am with you.

I too am a Pre-Vatican II Catholic. I do miss the 2 or 3 Latin Hymns they sung at High Mass back then. Tantum Ergo was my favorite.

What I have not discovered is WHY Catholics started to try to be like the Protestants. Why did we start to project the words on a wall and sing all these strange songs. I have never sung even one of those songs. It is TOO PROTESTANT for me. If we want to be Protestants…then go join a Protestant Church. So I just avoid it the best I can. We have a Spanish Mass at 5:00 PM Sunday, that is better than enduring all the singing.

The Protestant influence has crept into a few of the prayer groups. There are Charismatic groups aaand Centering Prayer Groups in the Catholic Church in some places. This is strictly a Protestant activity. How long will it be until they break away and start a new Church?

We got a new priest this summer. When he introduced himself he apologized that he could not sing. After hearing the rest of us he felt right at home and joins right in.
