It seems their is alot of confusion with some younger JW’s about what their own religion has taught in the begining vs now, so I thought would post this link that contains actual scans of these early publications. Some of these books are very difficult to obtain because of the scarcity. These books contain things such as Russell’s teachings that God lives on a star called Alcyone, or how he used the Great Pyramid’s measurements to come up with the 1914 doctrine. This website would be a great resource for non-JW’s wanting to be better able to discuss the WTS’ doctrinal evolution with others.

Most do not even know of their very existence. I didn’t until I started digging. The WTS’ governing body discourages members from reading them, as the theology at times is quite bizarre. They address this by using Proverbs 4 and claming that the “light gets brighter”.

I see. I’m not sure if that would be an answer to their earlier claims that “God lives on a star called Alcyone”.

It reminds me a bit of something I observed first-hand. In the mid 1980’s or so I read several current Scientology tracts that involved miraculous manipulations of space-time and the laws of physics. One that I recall was a “testimony” from a Scientologist who was in the middle of the road about to get hit by a truck. I think he either teleported out of the way or stopped time so that he could move out of the way. There were other similar claims. These were reprinted as true an accurate, and as achievements one could duplicate as one progressed up the OT ladder, and became “clear”.

To my knowledge, Scientologists don’t talk about or claim this anymore. Although, I could be wrong.
