My grandfather (who is now passed on) did not let my mother get her ears pierced until she was a certain age. And even that she had to beg him for; he didn’t like pierced ears I guess. I was wondering should I not get my ears pierced now? Because he didn’t like it? I wouldn’t like it if my grandchildren did something I wouldn’t want them to do. Do I have to wait until [that age] to get my ears pierced or do I just not get them pierced at all?

I think you are over-thinking things! If you are a minor and live at home, it is YOUR parents rules to which you are to follow- not your deceased (God rest his soul) grandfather’s preferences. You probably don’t listen to the same music your grandfather liked and you probably like things he didn’t care for (music, food, clothing, etc). Be your own person, within what is moral and appropriate. It’s nice you want to honor your grandfather, but just because he didn’t care for earrings doesn’t mean you need to abide by his preferences.

Your devotion to your grandfather is admirable, but I don’t think it is necessary to worry about whether or not he would approve of your every decision. It would be one thing if on his deathbed your mother promised him that you would never have pierced ears, but otherwise, I think you are free to live your own life. If your parents are okay with your getting your ears pierced and you want your ears pierced, then go for it!
