Earth as humans?

I have often read or thought I have read in spiritual writers that we are the earth.

What are the Biblical passages that are used to explain “we are the earth?”

Traditionally the earth (land) refered to Jews and the sea refered to Gentiles.

I am of the opinion, but I do not know yet, that we are the earth and that the planet was named after or from us.

HELP!
 
Well, humans were made out of the “dust of the earth”. So certainly we are the ground, or rather, the ground is us.

However, there has always been a fairly strong distinction between things created by God as things, and things created by God in His image and likeness. In that sense, we may have started as part of the earth, but we have been lifted up from it by Him to become like Him.

So the earth is God’s footstool, although a beautiful one; but we are God’s adopted children.

Perhaps you are talking about the human race being called the world? The world is a term referring to the beliefs of those who are against God, against His Church, and against Christianity:

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

(1 John 2:15-17)

So, singing, “We are the world,” around Christmas time is not necessarily a good thing, if by it one means, “We are for everything that the Catholic Church is against.” In the sense that Saint John intends, Catholics are not of the world but of the family of God.

But don’t misunderstand–we can hate the anti-Catholic beliefs of people in the world, but should never hate those who are deceived by these beliefs. The people of the world–no matter what their beliefs–we should always love.

“But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.”

–Jesus (Matthew 5:44-45)

The church building is called Church because the members go there to worship God.

I wonder if this does not apply to earth and even Eden.

Interesting insight. Reminds me of these words of the first Pope:

As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him—you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

(1 Peter 2:4-5)

Excuse me if I am completely confused by what you’re trying to say…

This page under Bible Dictionary should explain your confusion with the term church.

We are not earth. Earth is the material planetary surface on which we live. We are dually spiritual and corporal. Our corporal form is made from the dust of the earth. We are not earth, however.

Your ideas seem very much skewed. Catholicism does not equal pantheism.

Eden is just a place. It has nothing to do with anything that we are.
