I’m sorry if this is the wrong section for this thread. It’s the best match I could find :).

There is something that is going to happen in my town that is really, really troubling.

It’s a program called “Earth Spirit Rising”, and the thing will take place in Louisville, KY.

The Earth Spirit Rising spirituality is about EARTH WISDOM.
We know by now that there is a plague seeking to invade the Catholic Church in America. It likes to call itself “progressive”. It appears as “spirituality”. Not orthodox spirituality in the Christian sense, but usually pagan or paganesque spirituality.

Question (rhetorical): What in the world are these Sisters DOING, being involved in such a thing? Here’s the list of patrons for this event. Out of the list, we see that the patrons of this atrocity are:

"Church of the Epiphany Louisville KY (I’m really not surprized. A professed “progressive” parish),
Franciscan Sisters of Mary,
Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration,
Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center,
Shepherd’s Corner, a Ministry of the Dominican Sisters,
St. Mary of the Springs,
Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, KY
Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, Cincinnati Region
Sisters of Providence, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, IN
Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, IN
Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania
Sisters of the Precious Blood
St. Mary of the Springs
St. William Church

And the friends of this unholiness include:
“Racine Dominicans
Sisters of St. Joseph of LaGrange, IL
Sisters of St. Joseph of Wheeling, WV
The Well, Sisters of St. Joseph, LaGrange, WI”

-List quoted from the ESR site

Here’s another (http://www.earthspiritrising.org/links.html) of co-sponsors. Yes, there are catholic Religious in there.

It pains me that such a thing is going to occur. I worry that this is paganism. One nun (or sister) who had spoken at one of the conferences in the past had mentioned a goddess and a feminist mind. It can be read here. These are the kind of things that are spoken of at a conference that reportedly draws more than 1,000 people.

Does anyone know about this Earth Spirit Rising conference? I fear protestant Christians may see this, or hear the speakers and see Catholics (including Sisters) at this event and think more than ever that the Catholic Church has gone pagan. Has the Archdiocese of Louisville spoken out against it? Or is it promoting it or allowing it? I’m very concerned that this is something the Vatican may not approve of, and yet so many parishes and religious orders are supporting this.

Jesus, please help us…

tarhawk is one of the most respected voices in modern earth-based spirituality. She is also well-known as a global justice activist and organizer, whose work and writings have inspired many to action. She is the author or coauthor of ten books, including The Spiral Dance: A Rebirth of the Ancient Religion of the Great Goddess, long considered the essential text for the Neo-Pagan movement. Starhawk’s newest book is The Earth Path: Grounding Your Spirit in the Rhythms of Nature.
This event is going to be held at Bellermine University. I pray St. Robert’s intercession on this one.

And there it is, in black and white. Neo-pagan. I don’t know if this is a thing put together by Catholics, and therefore supposed to be a Catholic thing… I don’t know. But so many convents are supporting this, and some parishes included. On an earlier post, I had written “One man, Michael Fox, who is involved with this and his own Creation Spirituality was silenced by the Vatican. The website of Earth Spirit Rising mentions this; a public service or a public boast?” I can’t find the link where I found this; it may have been deleted. But at any rate, MATTHEW Fox was a speaker at Earth Spirit Rising in 2005, and on his site he mentions he was silenced by Cardinal Ratzinger. These are the kind of dissenters that are appearing at this event: neo-pagans and other kinds. It is troubling that so many Sisters and parishes would publicly condone/support a conference about Earth Wisdom Spirituality.

What really is troubling is that these convents and parishes are supporting a conference that proudly lists neo-pagan speakers and pagan spirituality! WOW . If that’s not a public blatant dissident act (publically supporting a conference that promotes pagansim), I don’t know what is! What makes them think they are allowed to be involved with this (as patrons or “friends” of the conference)? Are they in convents or covens? I know a lot of convents are into pagan activities (reiki, drumming circles, eco-spirituality and the like), and that they promote this not only with their own convent, but to the community as well. But to actually have one’s name, convent, or parish listed as a supporter of a conference hosting paganism? Wow. Why is such public dissent being allowed, and not chastised all over the country?

So many convents and parishes around the country proudly list their pagan activities online, and proudly offer their un-Christian, pagan activities to the public (like reiki). I’ve even seen Sisters on tv engage in Buddhist activities… and even say they refer to God as a female.

Lay Catholics are usually inspired by Religious. But apparently, some Religious are dabbling in dangerous things. A dangerous example for the public, lest they emulate.

Those in the position of authority who stay silent or even support this nonsense may as well quit their dayjob, because silence and pacivity are part of the problem, and actually act as a mute support for such paganism. This is a public disgrace, and it is very dangerous for the soul.
