Hello, this issue recently came up from just simple thought of the divine and so I was wonder.

Is it easier for God to be merciful simply because how awe-inspiring powerful God is? I mean if anyone of us suddenly became like Superman in terms of invulnerability, strength, and speed would we become far more merciful to someone who tried to rob us knowing they can’t do anything to harm you?

No I think it is much harder for God to be merciful.

First, we do hurt God when we sin, not physically as in your example, but we do. When we sin we are hurting ourselves and our souls and pulling away from God and those things do offend God. Sin hurts us and left un-repented can send us to Hell, eternally separated from God. That hurts God, He does not want us to be separated from Him, He wants us in His Kingdom.

Second, I think that then because God is so great that too makes it harder for Him to be merciful. When we forgive others, we recognise our own faults in them. But God has no such faults, so when He shows us mercy He is going beyond our human mercy. His mercy is divine and beyond anything we as humans can give.

Errrrr.

I think it is easy for God to be merciful. He lets us try again and again and again. And he only stops when are dead and we have competely and fully rejected him.

I think we’re having a different idea of what the question means. Because I totally agree with what you say, I just mean that comparatively the way we forgive and the ways God forgives are different.

I think we receive Mercy from God as we give Mercy to others. But he never quits loving us or gives up on us as he knows were mere humans.🙂

If I were superman, I would find it harder to be merciful, harder to be humble. I would be sorely tempted to met out my own form of justice if someone tried to rob me, since I’d know no one can stop me.

This would be initially any ways…who knows how we would handle this power and responsibility if we had a lifetime (or eternity!) to come to terms with it.

Can you explain this to me,

I know one of the hardest things for us to do as humans is to forgive (and I mean from the heart and mean it) and I know that unforgiveness hurts us more than anything,

saying that would it not be easier for God to forgive. to me this is so important, as one who has gone to confession but still did not feel forgiven and I also know other people who live with the same quilt even after confessing their sins.

🙂

PS: and then that leads to another sin which is not trusting God to do what he said he would do if we confess our sins from the heart and repent.
