Can any one identify all of them, other than the Holy Father???

I can identify 3 of them.

1)Syrian Catholic Patriarch of Antioch (2nd from the extreme left)

2)Major Arch Bishop Cardinal Mar Varkey Vithayathil of Syro Malabar Church,India.
(4th from the extreme right)

3)Major Arch Bishop Moran Mor Baselios Clemis Catholicos of Syro Malankara Church,India.(2nd from the extreme right)

I know a few:

Mar Nasrallah Sfeir, Maronite Patriarch (bareheaded, second from left of PP Benedict XVI)
Mar Emmnauel Delli, Chaldean Catholicos-Patriarch (second from right of PP Benedict XVI)

I think the one next to the Syro-Malankara Catholicos (fourth from right of PP Benedict XVI) is the Armenian Catholicos HB Nerses Bedros XIX. Also I think the one to the left of the Maronite Patriarch is HB Gregory Laham, Melkite Patriarch. Immediately to the right of the Syriac Patriarch (with a goatee) is the Coptic Patriarch, HB Antonios I Naguib.

I beleive that is His Beatitude Patriarch Lubomyr Husar the fourth bishop on the left from His Holiness.

There he is! Our very own Melkite Patriarch. His Beatitude Patriarch Gregory III.

I think, left to right is:

Mgr. Maurizio Malvestiti, Undersecretary of the Congregation - 1 ?
Patriarch Ignace Youssif III Younan (Syrian) - 2
Patriarch Antonios Naguib (Coptic) - 3
Major Archbishop Cardinal Lubomyr Husar, M.S.U. (Ukrainian) - 4
Patriarch Gregorios III Laham (Melkite) - 5
Patriarch Cardinal Emmanuel III Delly (Chaldean) - 6
Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Secretary of State -7
Pope Bennedict XVI - 8
Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for Eastern Churches - 9
Patriarchal Vicar Cardinal Nasrallah Pierre Sfeir (Maronite) - 10
Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar Varkey Vithayathil, C.SS.R. (Syro-Malabar) - 11
Patriarch Patriarch Nersès Bédros XIX Tarmouni (Armenian) - 12
Major Archbishop Baselios Cleemis Thottunkal (Syro-Malankar) - 13
Major Archbishop Lucian Mureşan (Romanian) - 14

Thank you, it appears that I had Mar Nasrallah Peter Sfeir (Maronite) and Mar Emmanuel Delli (Chaldean) reversed on my list.

Saint Castulus:
All the hierarches in this photo are in full communion with Rome. These are the heads of the various Eastern CATHOLIC Churches, not heads of Eastern or Oriental Orthodox bodies. (Maybe you are aware of this, but your reference to praying for reunification made me wonder :)).

Their vestments all look very Latinized, with the exception of His Beatitude, Gregoire III Laham.

It makes me sad to see the Patriarchate of Antioch divided so many ways, between the Maronites, Melkite, Syriac Orthodox, Syrian Catholic, and Antiochian Orthodox.

I have a feeling that comes because all, except the Melkite Patriarch, are wearing mitres. And yes, the mitre is a latinization (except, perhaps, among the Armenians where even Armenian Orthodox bishops wear mitres). The remainder of the vesture, however, is quite authentic and with the exception the absence of cuffs (the fact that altar slippers are not worn is not visible in the photos) not particularly latinized.

It’s all a result of history, although even so, some are more authentic than others. But that’s been discussed in other threads, and i won’t go into it here.

Any way, it is very nice to see that out of the 5 bishops claiming as patriarchs of Antioch, only the Syriac orthodox patriarch did not kiss the hands of the Pope as in the above pictures.

Well, if Mar Zakka was even there, I didn’t see him in those photos.

Well, the good thing about being Orthodox is that you only have to recognize one of them as being legitimate.

But just to be fair, I am sympathetic to the climate which facilitated the Melkite schism. However, it was still tragic.

I won’t get into the Patriarch of Antioch thing. As for latinization, it honestly seems as if the only latinization would be the mitres, and as someone said earlier that’s actually native to the Armenians. Beautiful pictures showing the catholicity of the Church though. Glad to see them.
