Isn’t the cross a pagan symbol?
No. The origin of the cross as a symbol in the Christian religion is not based on it’s use as a pagan symbol. Rather it is based on the more concrete use of the cross as a device used for execution. The person being executed was nailed to then it was put upright and the person was left exposed to the elements until they died.Isn’t the cross a pagan symbol?
Of course it is. So is the triangle, square, rectangle, et cetera. In fact, all of geometry is actually pagan, and architects are modern day pagan priests using pagan shapes to construct temples to pagan gods.Isn’t the cross a pagan symbol?

Thanks. Someone has to point out the obvious. It might as well be me. For the pagan-architet connection, consider this evidence:Good one!

Your dad could be right. Maybe you should be more open minded. There was a babylonian Godess named Ishtar and was acknowledged as more than just a godess of fertility. She stood for feminism, female independence, and promiscuity. In the catholic church today i see a lot of this. No longer is the man the spiritual guide but the woman instead, particularly in the Catholic faith. This is in direct contradiction to scriptures. In fact, some believe the statue of liberty was erected in honour of her. (Ishtar was also known as the lightbringer and the lady has a torche in her hand) She was given the title “Queen of heaven” synonymous with the title catholics give Mary. Why partake in a feast that could be wrong? Why commit a possible abomination? I just don’t get it…Why don’t we be safe and celebrate passover instead of believing in men and their traditions.
Oh by the way, there is evidence in scripture of the worship of the Queen of Heaven (Ishtar), and it is an abomination. Just read Jeremiah 44. Also, it is a little wierd how Catholics flock to Lourdes during Easter. (Ishtar was also known as a godess of healing.)
Also its a little wierd that there are exactly 9 months between Easter and Christmas. And why does Easter fall on a different day every year?
And what does the “lighting of the fire” ceremony have to do with Easter? Does it have pagan origins? So many questions, so few answers. Why not partake in something concrete instead of a possible abomination?
This sounds like some of Arnold Murray’s teachings. Google him - some of his teachings are way out there.

The exchanging of wedding rings is a waste of money. In fact, there is no need for mass, a simple signing of the marriage register and wedding reception is enough. People have been brainwashed into believing the churchianity wedding ceremony is the norm, aswell as subliminally brainwashed into believing Jesus was an effiminate man with blond hair.Just curious…
How do you get along in todays world?
How do you remember your appointments and stuff. I mean, obviously you do not use a modern calendar since the days and months are of pagan origin.
Other ‘stuff’ too…
like attending birthday party’s or anniversary gatherings? All pagan in orign.
What do you do when someone proposes a toast(PAGAN ORIGIN)? Step out of the room?
Do you advise everyone that you see wearing a wedding ring that they are paricipating in a pagan ritual?
Just curious how you do it.

I think the brainwashing is in the form of marriage must be sanctioned by the secular state rather than a religious body. I got married in the Church because my vow to my wife was made before God. I could care less if Uncle Sam blesses or knows of my marriage. Uncle Sam cares only because they want to tax me more or less depending on if I am married. Marriage has become a business for the state just as divorce has, insurance, medical… This is why I say the state should not sanction marriage one way or other and have no say whether gays can marry or siblings or cross specie unions or a man and a woman. The exchanging of wedding rings is a waste of money. Dear Jessica, It is useless to argue with a bigot and that is what your father has proved himself to be. Tell him when he has an open mind you will be happy to have an intelligent discussion with him, until then tell him you will not discuss it with him. Also tell him how his taunting hurts you and ask him why, if he loves you, he would do such an unloving thingMy dad studies with a group that claims that Easter as we celebrate it is really celebrating the fertility goddess Ishtar. So, in an effort to get a rise out of me and my sisters, he will say Ishtar instead of Easter. He did this yesterday and I asked him not to say it because it offends me. He asked me why since Ishtar is the aramaic word for Easter. I told him that may be true, but he doesn’t say it to refer to Easter but to refer to a fertility goddess. Then he said that’s what it is.
So, with Easter season here and the fact that one of my sisters will be confirmed in the Catholic church at Easter, I would like to be able to have a knowledgable discussion about this misrepresentation of the truth with my dad. I’m not trying to convince he is wrong, but show him why I believe what I believe if he continues to push the topic. (And knowing my father, he will.)
I’ve done some research (mostly on wikipedia…) on Ishtar and Easter. This is what I’ve found in summary:
Ishtar was a babylonian fertility goddess who was known in other religions as Aphrodite or Venus for example. Babylon fell around 500 BC to the Persians. So, Ishtar would not have been a goddess in practice at the time of Christ. An ancient germanic word for spring time was oestre which was also related to a fertility goddess. English is a germanic language so translating oestre to easter for springtime totally makes sense. It seems that only English speaking cultures use Easter to refer to the resurrection instead of Pascha which I guess would be passover. I know that there is this thing called the “Easter Controversy” which was the determination of when Easter should be celebrated and this was finalized in 325 AD at the 1st Council of Nicea. I guess what I would like to somehow prove to my dad is that Ishtar or Oestre was not in practice at the time of this council which would mean that it is all semantics.
Does anyone have any other resources or information that I could use when having this discussion with him? Or any suggestions on how to go about this? I really appreciate it.
God Bless,
Jessica
