We have had a busy week. Chrism Mass, foot washing on Holy Thursday, wife’s birthday on Good Friday (now, there is a juxtaposition, huh?), and I am receiving my sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil.

So, our menu? We are going to go to the 9:30 Mass on Easter and head to a minor league baseball game. They are having an Easter brunch, and we can celebrate the resurrection of the baseball season!

God bless. Have a great Easter.

Hot Cross Buns on Easter Saturday morning. Mmm.

Our Easter Sunday dinner menu varies between ham and lamb. This year’s menu:

Ham
Pototoes and peas
pineapple
buns
green salad

dessert: cake with strawberries
and lots and lots of candy

We are having our sons daughter in laws and grandsons (aged 3 and 4) over to join my husband mother & I for dinner.
We are having Gammon glazed with honey and mustard ( a family favourite my husband makes)
Roast Lamb
Roast Beef
Roast Potatoes
Roast Parsnips
Mashed potatoes (for the young children)
Yorkshire Puddings
Cauliflower & Broccolli cheese
Brasied Carrots
Gravy!

We are usually too full for dessert so I have some chocolate brownies and cream and
Cadbury’s chocolate easter eggs for everyone! If anyone is hungry,

Happy Easter

God bless
Awesome! Easter is the largest feast day of the year, so this is good to see.

My wife and I did St. Patrick’s Day. There was plenty of food for that day and then plenty of leftovers. Since we did St. Paddy’s Day, and we are having our daughter’s birthday party next week, my wife’s parents said they would buy a leg of lamb if we would cook dinner. So, of course they come over with a puny roast that may be just enough for everyone. And they (well, BIL and FIL) are big eaters. Sometimes I get the feeling that they are all sharing a brain over there. I know that sounds uncharitable, but it really is true.

I am having my family over for dinner.

Ham/pineapples
mash potatoes
two different types of veggies
hot wheat and white rolls
Salad
Chocolate cake
Strawberry shortcake
Chips and candy to snack on

Sharing a brain! That’s way too funny! Turns out that we are a bit low on money just now and turkeys were totally on sale. So the finalized menu is:

Roast turkey
Scalloped potatoes
Brussel sprouts
Glazed carrots
Key Lime Meringue pie

According to my mother the menu will be,

Barbecued Ham
Au Gratin Potatoes
Candied Yams
Creamed Onions
Carrots
Green Beans
Strawberry Pie

Which all sounds pretty good to me.

I know—I’m re-reading it now and it was kind of mean. I shouldn’t have used such harsh language about my IL…sorry. :o however, I was just at the grocery store now and I saw some really nicely cut lamb roasts that were larger and cheaper per pound than the one the IL’s bought. Oh well…if I want it done right, I guess I should have just done it myself.

That is a very nice meal! :DHow are you glazing the carrots? Butter and brown sugar?

The creamed onions sound good. I’m getting hungry looking at everyone’s menu.

I thought I would go with butter and honey. And I was able to use the sharing a brain joke with my husband a few minutes ago because he made a carpentry mistake and was irritated with himself. I said, “That’s okay Honey, we share a brain and I have custody at the moment.”

Croissants for breakfast (plus egg-cracking competition)

Roast Pork and baked veg
French salad (or so we call it - I believe the French call it salade a la Russe or Russian salad)
Black Forest Cake
demolish whatever Easter chocolates are left for dinner 😉
