I know I’ve asked about attire for the Easter Vigil before, but I have another question. I am being Baptised/confirmed. Our parish does not have robes, and we have been told to wear nice dress clothes for the night. My question is: if it is chilly outside, can a fashion “wrap” or “cape” be worn. I think I read somewhere on this site that this would not be appropriate, but I can’t find where I saw it. . I hate to ask the priest this question, he has enough to think about. Sorry if this is the wrong forum, and hopefully my inane questions will end soon!

Welcome home!

Can you ask your RCIA director what’s done in your parish? That might be the quickest and easiest way to find out. The advice against a wrap or cape might be a practical matter concerning the mechanics of Baptism, or perhaps some kind of stole or other garment will be placed on you at your Confirmation. These things are unique to your parish, so you need to ask someone there.

Thanks for your reply. We’re a small parish, no RCIA director, just the priest. We’ll be sitting down after we enter the church, so a coat and/or wrap can easily be removed.
