you already have the authoritative source in that quote. read the first line. i lifted that from the footnotes for Easter Vigil in Wikipedia
The source is not from an official Church document though. The piece quotes his article, but, I do not think that a scholarly piece is authoritative documentation.

why are you searching for an official Church document? its not like its a dogma or something

its a part of history. there are many things about early Christianity that are undocumented. and you cared to read the whole thing i quoted, the Byzantine Rite still holds the same practice today (somewhat) that the entire Gospel of John is read during what is the equivalent of our Holy Week

Not often that I agree with choy, but in this case I don’t know why it is worth disputing. At some point the entire Gospel may have been read (prior to Trent, of course). Or it may not have. Does it even matter?

All that I am saying is that if claims are made, they should have an authoritative source to back them up. Wikepedia is not necessarily reliable. Inasmuch as the article comes from a scholarly piece, sometimes even these are not necessarily the most reliable either.

Neither does the highlighted piece indicate that John’s gospel was read in its entirety at the Easter Vigil liturgy.

then don’t believe it
it not like its dogma that you have to believe it or you will go to hell
