How to go for Easter Vigil Mass if my family doesn’t want to? And it’s late; I don’t want to trouble my friends… but I am disabled so it’s difficult for me to attend the Mass alone

The vigil mass can be tiring for even those who are able bodied. Why not talk it over with your family and friends? Perhaps you can make a deal regarding what you ask of them other days.

Go when it is easiest for whoever is going to be taking you. The Vigil mass is very nice, but it is long if someone is just taking you as a favor and is not really interested in attending mass.

I assume your family is also unwilling to go on Sunday? I’m also disabled. If you’re family doesn’t want to and you have no willing friends, don’t worry. Make an act of spiritual communion, watch the Mass on EWTN. God doesn’t ask the impossible, even on Easter.

yeah, my dad has warden duty on Easter Sunday. So normally my family and I tag along with him.

It’s a long Mass but I love it.

I suggest you call the parish office and ask if they have anyone offering rides. You being disabled is just the reason that parishes sometimes keep a list of volunteers for this service, even if they don’t widely publish it. If they don’t have the service then there’s no embarrassment in asking. This is a common problem.

Go if at all possible. IT’s the biggest Mass of the year. I’ts beautiful nothing else like it.
I hope you get a ride.

It is a long to very long Mass- depending on how many folks will be baptized/confirmed at your location. But what’s hard for a lot of people is how late the mass starts. Older people, like your parents, sometimes don’t like to stay out past their bedtimes. Particularly, if your church is located in the rough part of town.

It’s really rough on my non-Catholic mother. But me attending Sunday services means she can’t go to church which isn’t fair to her, so the Vigil it is. So far, she’s been gracious enough to take me and go to bed right after.

Not if they continue mowing people down! (Re: the fatality in Tempe, Arizona)

My country is not used to driverless cars, but I am excited with the prospect of having one! I don’t need a driving licence for such cars…

Could you ask your priest or deacon if there’s someone who could give you a lift to Easter Vigil? I’m pretty sure someone would be happy to help if they realised you were in a predicament for this one evening.

The Easter Vigil is my favorite night of the year. Go if you can. If you can’t make it, EWTN broadcasts the Vigil from St. Peter’s in Rome. It’s an epic event.

Prayers that it all works out for you.
