thanksFWIW, this is from a 62 handmissal. Sorry for any typos and any other error on my part.
just for clarification what is the Mass of Resurrection? That sounds like what the Easter Vigil is now.

My guess is that what we refer to as the Easter Vigil now includes the Mass (of Resurrection) in both the EF and OF. I had not been aware that a Mass said on Saturday before 1970 could count for the obligation with bishop’s approval.thanks

I just can’t miss the Vigil…it is my favorite Mass–it’s the equivalent of the Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. I just love it.Hi everyone!
I was just curious on what you prefer, and why!
I have always gone to Easter Sunday Mass, but this year my little brothers are serving at the Easter Vigil so we are going to that Mass. I am actually really looking forward to it! I know it is going to be absolutely beautiful!
Have a great day!
I was a reader in the Easter Vigil in 1994 and was hooked! My 1966 hand missal says something similar to that of ProVobis. I would guess that the Easter Vigil and the Mass of the Resurrection were intended to ideally follow one after the other (with the option to have the Vigil earlier if necessary.)
The Easter Vigil of today seems to be a combination of the former Vigil and Mass of the Resurrection into on Liturgy.
My earliest memory of attending an Easter Vigil which was more or less as we know it today was sometime in the mid 1970s.
