Easter Water

I was just wondering, is it permissible to take home some of the Easter water blessed at the Easter vigil? Now I am speaking of water blessed at a Tridentine Easter Vigil. My concern is that the water has the Chrism and Oil of Catechumens poured into it and so I was just wondering if it was permissible to take home some of the Easter Water that was not put in the baptismal font.

Hmm. Well if it’s in the same place (receptacle or whatever) where the holy water that people take home is normally kept, it’s probably ok. But if you can you should just ask one of the priests at your church, maybe after Mass.

Well, I had asked around and no one really knew and this was the first time we ever did a Tridentine Easter Vigil. Anyway, they did bless the water in the public recepticle for people’s holy water and poured most of it in the baptisimal font. The practice in the parsih is to just add left over Asperges holy water into whatever is in the large pot so people could get holy water. Its just that prior to me going regularly to the Tridentine Mass, I always used to get newly blessed Holy Water from the (ordinary form) Easter Vigil. However, in the ordinary form, the holy oils are not poured in the water.

Pre VII [40’s & 50’s] it was common practice to bring home “Easter Water”. It was just Holy Water, but seemed special to the season.
