Hi, I’m new to these forums, I’m 20 year old college student who has recently revert back to Catholicism, and in journey growing knowledge of our faith I’ve discovered the Eastern churches. I’ve always been intrigued by Orthodox Christianity, so I was quite pleased to discover that some came back into union with Rome.

So to make it short, I’m interested in attending a Divine Liturgy and want to know oif any Eastern Catholic Churches in the San Diego area, preferably with minimum “Latinization”, I’ve done some searching online, but I wanna see what you guys have to say.

Thank you in advance and God Bless!

Welcome to CAF, Eastern Catholicism section. 🙂

For future reference there is a good resource here at Find-A-Parish → By Location → United States → California.

Also, you might want to view the Holy Resurrection Monastery website, especially for any time they may be doing something in your area. If you’re able to get out to HRM do go! Nothing Latinized there. Also The Society of St. John Chrysostom — Western Region can give you information on the events of the Society of St. John Chrysostom in your area. The SSJC is “an ecumenical organization of laity and clergy of the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Churches and the Eastern Catholic and Roman Catholic Churches.” SSJC is a great group. You can ask to be added to the Western Region email list.

(You can hear the HRM monks on a number of topics on the Word from the Wise. Click on “… (more info)” to bring up a list in each segment of the questions Catherine asks the monks in that video. Fr. Maximos also appears fairly regularly on Fr, Loya’s Light of the East radio program, in a segment they call “From the monk’s cell”.)

I am most familiar with Holy Angels and can vouch that there is minimum “Latinization” there, and have perhaps the most full holy week and Pascha schedule. Well worth a visit.
